I agree. I have a feeling this is going to turn out better than most of us expected. Regardless, I`m proud to just be in a project with my fellow "Skin Lovers".

A little off-topic, but, have any of you thought what will become of Skin Love when Winamp 3 takes over and 2 is obsolete?

That won't happen in our lifetimes, at least not before the chain skin is finished

sorry

hey everyone, just popped in to see how everybody was, and whoa..I forgot about this thing.
Sorry guys, don't think I can do it anymore.
I've been really busy lately, as some of you may have noticed (last post close to a month ago). My friend and I are working on a web site, and it is taking up a lot of time. Also, I am not really interested in skinning anymore (sorry ). This won't seem odd to people who know me - my interests/hobbies last about as long as...well...they don't last long.
I hope I'm not screwing things up too much by backing out now, but I really don't have enough time or interest anymore to do it.
You probably won't see me around much anymore, except when I pop in from time to time.

Again, I'm really sorry that I have to back out of this now..I would have told you earlier but I forgot that I had signed up.

see ya 'round,
The Croc

p.s: Once our site is up and running I'll tell you guys so you can go see it

OK, I'm sorry... no big problem about that, though. I guess we can find a substitute for you. So, anyone wanting to take Croc's place? It's not too much work, I can tell you

Come on, no one wants to join? It'll be the most exciting experience you've had in your life It's an easy job and you'll be properly credited, and the skin will get at least 15 downloads (I guess the authors will dowload the full skin).
If we don't find anyone, would you (those who are still in) mind if I pick a random name to make 2 groups of components instead of 1?

Ahhh, I see, it pays to read.

milkdrop?

I don't want mikro because I don't like it and don't have it, hope thats alright. While I'm waiting I'll make some AVS presets and work on a skin I started recently (It's why I came to Skin Love [I know thats not what it's called, but it sounds better]).

note: school work might slow me down, sorry!

It's already been started 'backstage', so to speak. Details about it won't be discussed again in these forum until it's finished.

garetjax, thats a very good main, you should work on it yourself.

The main has already been done. I don't know why people keep asking when skinning is going to start - It started weeks ago. In the interest of fairness and organisation (with 15+ people taking part, this has to be kept organised, otherwise it would fall to pieces straight away), a list has been made up, saying who is skinning what (the list was made randomly). Jellby's made the main, and I'm not sure whether the second person has completed the second component yet. The list of components in the order they'll be skinned is somewhere towards the beginning of this thread.

Garetjax, that's a very nice main, you should definitely make a skin out of it. If you want to take part in the collab skin, I'm sure you could. Especially since CrocDumdee withdrew recently (not sure if he's been replaced). Jellby's probably the best person to talk to regarding being included on the list, as he's ended up sort of in charge of this little operation.

Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.

Yep, Milkdrop

Unlike AVS, Milkdrop uses hardware video acceleration, so it's 100 times smoother and faster than AVS. As far as I've been able to ascertain, it's the most customisable non-AVS visualisation plugin, probably comparable with AVS in that respect. It's a matter of personal preference, obviously, but I find making Milkdrop presets much more fun than making AVS presets - so if you like making presets, check it out. The beat detection shits all over AVS, too - every element in your preset can be directly linked to the beat (or treble, or mid, or bass, or loudness, or any combination) if you like - it makes for much more varied and spectacular visualisations.

Milkdrop is much faster than avs, it just cant do as much 'stuff'. I guess its a trade off, speed for effects...

Bloggs: Might be time to get a 3d card then, even a cheap tnt2 pci card will let you run milkdrop. Unless you've got an agp slot on your motherboard (guessing you dont) then an MX400 would be best if youre on a budget.
