Winamp crashes when I play certain songs

When I play certain songs, well, artists really, Winamp crashes. I've installed it several times, but the problem persists. I get no error messages, it just crashes. I haven't been able to establish any kind of relationship between the artists that cause it to crash, it looks pretty random to me.. except they are the same even after re-installing. I'm pretty sure it's skin related, as it only happens when I'm using a custom skin. If I roll back to one of the default skins, it works perfectly.

My specs:

On closer inspection, it only seems to happen with the skin "Musicshow-B version" available here: http://www.winamp.com/skins/details/221733

No other custom skins seem to cause a problem. Just my luck.. the one skin I really, really like, I can't use.

I'm having a similar problem that seems to only happen when I'm using the MusicShow-B skin. I get an error message saying that something went wrong with gen_ff.dll and Winamp exits. It's very random, so I haven't been able to determine if it'll happen with original MusicShow skin, or other cPro skins, but two ways I've definitely gotten it to stop were by switching to the "Winamp Modern" skin, and by removing the gen_ff.dll file before restarting Winamp. When I do (2), I don't even have the option of using any modern skins, I'm assuming because gen_ff.dll is the Winamp modern skins plugin.

The error occurs when I start a song. It'll keep occuring every time I restart winamp and restart that song. Sometimes it'll keep occuring even if I try to start a different song instead. Sometimes restarting Winamp will simply fix the problem and other times I have to restart the computer completely. Other times, when restarting the computer doesn't even fix it, I'll have to play other songs for awhile and when I go back to the problem song it just works. I haven't really found a clear pattern to what events cause the error, but I'm pretty sure that the two things I mentioned above (switching to Winamp Modern skin or removing gen_ff.dll) always stop the error. Trouble is, I'd like to continue using MusicShow-B.

Here are some screenshots of the error screens, and the contents of the text file (a5ab_appcompat.txt) generated for the error report. I wish I could somehow copy all the text in the "Error Report Contents" dialog, but the window won't let me select it, so I just took screen caps of the first two pages.

This image doesn't seem to want to upload without getting all screwed up. But the bottom part isn't really relevant anyway. All it says is information about the error reporting process, not specific to this actual error.

I think I've found a way to consistently fix this issue. I just add one or more songs from a different folder than the song (or set of songs... usually it's any song from a certain album) to the playlist. Winamp won't crash when I play the "bad" song(s) anymore.

Definitely a MusicShow bug, though, because I don't have this problem with any of the other skins. Oh well.

and does it still happen if you're using the currently supported client version (5.572) ? as you appear to be using a 5.55 install so it may be that someone was fixed in the client which resolves the crash issue.

Yeah, I've since upgraded to the latest version and it didn't fix it.

I have the same problem with MFD: http://browse.deviantart.com/customi...q=mfd#/d2hrit7

When I try to play certain folders by Right Clicking and selecting "Play in Winamp" it crashes. It I play the songs individually it is fine.

Try to uninstall and then install without the plugins just use it the normal way then try to play the songs maybe there is a plugin that is not working out properly
