"Cannot find decoder" when converting from mpc to mp3
Hello,
I'd like to convert some tracks from mpc to mp3. I have installed the in_mpc.dll (using the http://meggamusic.co.uk/winamp/mpc/in_mpc.exe installer) and the enc_lame.dll is also installed. I get the error message that the decoder is missing, but no further information. The playback of the mpc files is fine. Any suggestions? Kind regards, erikfzr |

i don't believe that version of in_mpc supports the current Transcoder api which is what is throwing that error. unless someone on the dev team looked into it (unlikely since it's been a few years since the plug-in was even touched and there's never been much enthusiasm for mpc in general), you'll need to find another way to transcoder between mpc and other formats.

You could try Diskwriter output to create a .wav file and transcode that.

Thanks for the explanations, DrO.
ujay, Dikswriter worked fine, although it is a two-step solution. ![]() |

Diskwriter has the facility to convert 'on the fly' but only using the system codecs.
AFAIK there is no satisfactory system codec available(by todays standards) so it has to be done stage by stage for best ressults. [additional] If you are not too concerned with highest quality, you could try one of the Fraunhofer system codecs, it's fine for medium bitrates. A forum search may turn up previous discussions, use keyword 'Radium'. UJ |
