Flashing Modem/Anyone have a MSN modem?

Okay, for those who don't know, the MSN DSL 1000 modem (a rebranded ACCTON) has a built in NAT firewall. I wanna destroy it and it seems I can by putting on new flash software.

Does this seem like something I could pull off? Does anyone have experience with something like that?

Etc. Etc.

Post if you know anything about this stuff. I don't want to be without Internet and I also gotta be able to convince my dad to let me screw with his modem.

after reading what that sight has to say(and the posts) it looks 'feasable' but probably not 'safe'. I'd reccomend you only do this if

A. you truly believe, 100%, you can follow the directions

or

B. you're completely insane.

Messing with hardware that you have in your pc (flashing a graphics card for added features) is one thing, but flashing something that you're probably renting from somone else and use to access their network is the sort of thing to get you black balled. I know that if I ran an ISP, I'd take every measure to ensure that your doing this cost you a large lump sum of money and prevented you from getting within 100 feet of an internet terminal(think: kevin mitnck)

And On that day, the Lords of the land said unto their Master Architect, "The temple you have made to the gods of Wasabi and Maki has brought us no great prosperity" and they sent out him into the lands.

As he traveled to a far off land, he found he wasn't traveling alone, but that he had gained companions, and when they found their new land, they started work on a new temple, one that would be OPEN to all who wanted to worship.

One of the guys said he called MSN to get the access keys and the tech guy actually helped him out in doing this.

Anyway, yeah, good point. Gotta make sure that it's really my modem and that I'm not renting it from them.
