Winamp freezes

When I try to start winamp it goes into the task manager but does not open, and the folder I double clicked an mp3 in freezes until I end task the winamp.exe This happens with 556. The only thing I can think that is different from when it worked just fine was that I upgraded to the latest Creative drivers. I have an X-Fi. Should I roll back my drivers?

This may or may not have anything to do with your problem, but I have noticed the same thing in my case, and if you are running AIM or another instant messenger, try exiting it (not just logging out) before you run Winamp.

I have no idea why this started happening. I tried ending as many background tasks as I could. I also rolled back my audio driver. Then I did the most simple thing of all. Why do I always forget this? I uninstalled Winamp completely and reinstalled and all is good again.
