Why women shouldn't talk about cars

...they make themselves look stupid. A columnist in today's Manchester
Evening News states:

"For the last few years, I've hankered after some coloured tyres"
Right. No one else gives a fuck...

"take your average tyre; not very exciting, is it? A black circular chunk of moulded rubber that..."

wait for it...

"...doesn't even have a nice pattern on it. It's all function."
I'm almost lost for words.

Who the hell spends time worrying about people's perception of the pattern in the tread? It may
provide more grip, but no-one gives a monkey's what it looks like.

And the columnist who penned this bullshit? Vicki Butler-Henderson, former presenter
of top-rating TV motoring show Top Gear. Someone had better fire her, or a lot of motorists
will stop reading the Evening News.

And that's not all. The other day, my dad was at a friend's house, and as he left, he mentioned his new car. Steve's wife appeared and said "Ooh, I like the colour!", thus proving the point; women care so much
about aesthetics they aren't bothered about good fuel mileage, power or
how it handles.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not sexist (), I just think women should avoid making themselves look daft.

Leave them alone.

I don't care for cars myself. All I look for in a new car is the colour and quality of the radio system.

Women don't know anything about cars eh? I'll say most of 'em don't. They also don't know how to drive.

Yeah I know, I'm a chick, but it's true, women are horrible drivers (I'm one of the few good ones, I'm proud to say).

Anyway, I'm into trucks And the only aesthetics I care about are whether the damn thing looks decent enough and is street legal. And how big the exhaust is. Muahaha!

Oh, and how the tire looks is very important. For instance, I'm not going to put some crappy tires on my truck, I'm getting Super Swampers, maybe Boggers; the tread is a hell of a lot different in that Super Swampers have _TREAD_.

AND FURTHERMORE, my brother-in-law is a total redneck, and I'm the only chick he ever let drive his baby (Silverado 2500HD with Alison transmission... unf unf). AND he let me swing the thing catass around a few corners, and was impressed when I was able to do it.

So don't judge us all based on a few idiots (okay, a lot of idiots).

speaking of women and cars my friend won a new toyota yaris last year and a few weeks ago we noticed one hell of a thing about the car....... "its a girls car", the reason behind this comment is that in every car i've been in the sun visor has a mirror under it and only on the passenger side, but in the yaris it is on the drivers side?????? my friend joe is now josepheen.

Reminds me of the song Josephine by Terrorvison. A very funny song about a guy who's best mate disappears for a while then he starts chatting to a girl at the bar. It turns out to be his old best mate and they end up going out

Mrs. Deaux is a capable mechanic, and holds a SCCA license.
I'm sure she'd like some nicely colored tires on her race car.
I just know she would, but she'd be pretty picky about the rubber compound ect.

V B-H's comments were in earnest. If they'd been on the net, I'd have considered them a joke...

Speaking of jokes, the sweeping generalisation that forms part of this thread title was supposed to be one (sort of), but I forgot the .

pixiefied, please marry me.

my mom is a shitty driver, she's been driving since the 70's, i've been driving since february, and my dad says i'm the better driver. in general, i dont feel that women are as good drivers as men. what i notice most is that women tend to get tense and up tight and guys just roll with it.

missyob made me post this.

Hey look they are simple tin boxes with 4 wheels an engine and various other mechanical bits that when you sit in them and turn a key push a couple of pedals and shift a stick between 4 5 or 6 slots you can make the afforementioned 'tin box'move from point A to point B. These points are decided by A)where the tin box was first situated when you get in it. and B)where the 'tin box' finally comes to a stop. (if you can manage to move it at all!)

I hope you will now not say you know nothing about cars!

I don't care much for cars either. Matt is like me, lol.

She [columnist] may be dumb but girls can still talk about cars. That column is no more the elffect of what would happen if you ahd a community like Devart that was devoted to cars instead of programs/pictures/skins and they only cared for design and appearance.
