remove recently Played items

Is it possible to remove/shorten/edit items from the recently played list WITHOUT deleting the actual files? For example you might want to clear the recently played list and start all over again.

Incidentally where does WA store this info?

Ta.

right click on item(s) in recent view, choose remove from recent list.

The media library data is stored in Winamp\Plugins\ml

That'd be the Recent Items view, not Recently Played.

You can uncheck "track playback count & last playback time of ml items" in:
Prefs > Media Library > Recent Items.

I haven't personally experimented with unchecking this or any other options in there, basically because I don't want to lose my data...

The main library database file (in the dir specified by WHEREamI) is "main.dat".
You will also see a file in there named "recent.dat".
I guess that deleting recent.dat will reset all tracking views.

If you look in gen_ml.ini (winamp\plugins dir)
you will also find an entry such as:

query5_name=Recently Played
query5_meta=met3637.vmd

However, all this particular file contains is the configuration (in plain text) for that particular view (ie. columns displayed, number of entries, timespan, etc). Maybe you can edit this file to reduce the number of entries? (again, something I've not personally tried).

Whatever you do, backup all files first, just in case.
It is also highly recommended that Winamp is closed whilst editing/deleting any files.
