Display more metadata?

Hi,

I know that I can display 'artist' and 'title'.

But how can I display other metadata like 'album name', 'album art', 'file path' etc. ?

Is it possible with shoutcast? If not, how ?

Thank you,

Patrick

you need to use the v2 DNAS and a source running in v2 mode to send the extra metadata (the v1 system only allows for a single string generally formatted as "artist - title"). you would also need a client which is capable of displaying / providing access to the extra metadata but it's not well supported (even Winamp is lagging behind things mainly since i've not had the time to finish updating the Winamp handling).

OK, I'll try v2 DNAS.

But, when you say, a source running in v2 mode.

Is winamp a source running in v2 mode by default?
If not, where do you I specify the v2 mode in winamp?

Thanks,

Patrick

Winamp itself, no.
the Source DSP when used in Winamp, yes.

basically from creating the stream to listening to the stream, everything being used needs to be v2 compatible. though on the client end it won't matter if it's not able to use / expose the extra metadata.

My Shoutcst host only uses the Shoutcast DNAS 1.98 and I'm able to send the album title to it like this using SAM Broadcaster:

$artist$ - $title$ - $album$

To set this to to your encoder and highlight it and press the tools icon. Now click Server Details and enter the info I gave you under captain template. Now you'll be displaying the album title. Some website Flash players will read the album string and then search for the correct album cover to display. You may have to pay for some of these web players that actually show album art.

Loudcaster use to display album art FREE so you could check out Loud City. Being Loud City is a sister company (even though Loudcaster is dead) it still may allow album art.

and a lot of players baulk when the SC title is changed from the 'artist - title' default (and it's not a true solution as you're bastardising a string that was never intended to be used in that way).

I changed 'artist' - 'title' to a big string with 'artist' 'title' 'album' 'year' 'filepath'.
And I look into filepath to read my .jpg there.
Is this ok or ridiculous?

With shoutcast, how can I display metadata in a webpage?

I mean, for exemple, getting the 'title' from DNAS server status page, et put it in my web page.
