I'm pretty sure some of you have heard of #*******, for a while now its been up and running, it's been going on for almost 3 years now. But now that channel has strayed far far away from the Winamp Forums scene. The "founder" is an ex-mod of these forums, some of you may know him, some may not, but now he's taking it upon himself to literally throw out some of the longstanding and better members of that chatroom, along with that he clearly does not give a shit about the forums and its members, along with about 2 or 3 other ex-winamp forums members flaming other members and making them feel not welcome, is that what a winamp forums-related channel should be about?

I didnt think so either.

So, for that reason Me and a few other members went off and created a new channel, for you, the members of the winamp forums.

For now, the channel will reside on ****, until we find a new home for the channel. Regular respectable members of ******* that still care about the forums are welcome, as well as any newcomers, and thats the way its supposed to be.

So, this is a formal invitation for you, the Winamp Forums regulars, to come join us in #winamp.

#******* was never a forums chat. It was a place for fans of AVS and part of bt's website.

How will this new place differ from #*******? It won't, unless you manage to get lots of new people from the forums in there. Well done for creating a forums chat anyway

Just note that #******* is not limited access. No forum member is banned. No one was driven out, they left by choice.

As for the Incubus_chick thing, she kept banning, kicking and de-oppping people she didn't like. You can't go doing that in a chat room open for all visitors. Forget peoples modes and just chat will you. Anyway she's always welcome there.

i believe now is the time i should make my feelings clear:

I like bizz and seer (the two people who greeted me in #winamp). and how could i not like IC?

BUT, i like the way matt runs #*******, if anyone had a problem, all they needed to do was say something and it would be fixed. I liked the whole "you are an op unless we decide we don't like you" ideals of the past #*******. #******* was good and pure. the flooding was good, the staff few. now it all seems to have changed, and i don't think #winamp will help, due to the time it was founded (think communisim, it'll work under the right circumstances).

your old channel was evil and corrupt, with the leader making stupid rules, etc. etc. and trying to kick people out.

so you're going to make a new channel, where you'll make everything better by making new stupid rules and trying to kick different people out?

if your beef with #******* is rules a and b, why start a new place and use rule a and rule b once again? wouldn't it be better to allow ANYONE in, even if you don't necessarily like them or get along with them? that would certainly give you a little bit of an edge with the moral high ground.

I trust Matt and his judgement...he has done a better job than what I ever did....simple reason...I let alot of people off with things and if anything...Matt made ******* alot better for control

But never the less ...******* has been around for years..and will forever be imfamous for good times bad times and naughtlyness

******* has changed...yes and know...its a chatroom and for it to live it has to change .change is sometimes goood and can be bad but we still have some great users there and I hope they enjoy there stay

This thread was stickeyd so that the people who have never knew about a forums-based IRC channel can know about it.

I never had anything against *******, I still dont, I just dont like some of the members that go there. But how can a channel that was once filled with only forums members not have anything to do with the forums? ******* had something to do with the forums obviously at one point, but now it doesnt, its just filled with bitchy ex-members that hate it here and idlers from the **** staff, as well as useless drama bullshit that almost always ends up in some longstanding member(s) leaving.

Well think of it this way, 2 years ago when I started coming to ******* there was maybe only 20 or so members and the chatroom would be empty by about midnight my time. Well right now thats the case, but the chat room is hardly ever idle until after midnight when the members from over here in the states are sleeping.

Which brings it back to the point in why this thread was stickeyed. We're trying to get some new members in there, for this chatroom was made for them. I dont want this chatroom to be another "branch-off" of ******* like the attempts in the past once made it.

Also I would like to make an opinion that its a fluke that I'm in 6 spinoff channels that are associated with #*******, the Winamp Forums, and one that is from another bulletin board.

I'm glad we are separating the flavors of the Winamp Forums into different channels.

Winamp3 Skins and Scripting - same as stated
WinampTech - Winamp2/3 Technical Support
Skinlove - General skinning
******* - General chat
Winamp - General chat

Of the two that are similar, there are differences between both sides of how things are run
