do me a huge favor? Put it in your comp and take a look. My Mother asked me to make a copy of this CD for her and add a song from another CD to it. Well, Genius Loves Company behaves like no other CD I've come across before! I copied the CD fine, but I couldn't add other tracks, because the individual song files do NOT appear in the CD-Rom drive. All that shows up is an mpeg video of some Ray Charles studio sessions. Yes, very cool, but I have never ever seen a CD that dosen't show the song files. So presumably I would have absolutely NO way of having one or two songs from this CD on my hard drive! Now, if the company wished to "block" people from messing with the individual files, what possible reason would they have? I can copy the CD; but I can't copy 1 or 2 or 3 songs? What sense does that make? Furthermore, for me to have NEVER seen this? (Please believe me, I have seen and accessed quite a few CDs in my day) I sincerely you can forgive my rambling on here, but I am perplexed. Curious as to whether every released copy behaves this way. Gather what you can from it and PLEASE let me know the scoop. Thank you SO much in advance!

It's pretty common, actually. Plenty of bands and artists like to put "extras" on their CDs by adding videos and whatnot. To do this, they have CDs that are in both data and audio formats.

If you want to pull individual songs off the CD, you should probably use a program like CDex or EAC to rip them to mp3 format and then burn a compilation of the songs you want.

That's what I'm talking about, Namelessv1. Thank you. Obviously I've heard of CD's having extras, but I meant I never saw ONLY the extra show up and not the song files. But those programs should help me. You have steered me in the right direction. I am indebted to you.

Yes I have come across cd's like this. A Faithless one spring's to mind.

And no you won't see the audio files as there part of the video file, though you can play either in a standard player.

The answer to your problem is to find the software that will pull just the audio file. If it'll run in PowerDVD you can extract the audio as a wav file via there. There is better stuff about, it's just a case of visitng Google ..... though 'majorgeeks' is a good place to start .....

Almost 96% of all my cds I bought recently are Enhanced CDs. Which, I use iTunes or CDex to rip the tracks I need for my iPod.

let me explain a few things to you.

- you were ranting on about a cd, all i did was point out that if you want to rant about anything , you post this in the forum part called the bitchlist.
this is no Joke and no insult to you directly.
