What Should I Do?...

My style, as pointed out by one or two people (not only on here) is supposedly too 'cartoonish'. I've been stumped on what I want to do later in life as a job and right now there is no way that I am going to become a concept artist... No way. This really upsets me- it's my dream job- I've been working so hard and if people don't particularly like my stuff and tell me without leaving any constructive critisism when I post work... well... it's not going to help me at all. I can't simply 'move away' from my cartoonish/animeish style just like that. If you guys want, I'll give it a go- I'll either start making things more cartoony, more animeish, or more realistic. Just please, don't say 'I don't like it' without leaving any crits that will help me. Doing that gets people nowhere . Anyway, I deleted the picture of Ayumi (which was in the 'Can You Draw?' thread before I deleted the pictures from Photobucket) from my computer being as everyone I've shown doesn't really like it and/or the way I draw... So I'm making this thread into a sort of 'before & after' thread, showing how I'm going to experiment with different styles and show people what way I find best to 'express myself' in my work. There's always a little bit of me in my artwork. Even my art teacher says that I'm talented but puts me down for attempting to draw anime.

I've had enough of being put down...

...Because of this I just reckon I completely suck.

Go here: http://conceptart.org/

Those are the people to ask. You're 14 too, you aren't going to be Rembrandt at 14. For 14, you are pretty good at drawing.

I quite like that picture and I think you should finish it.

I think as a general rule every artist, whatever their medium, hates their work at some point.

Just keep on with what you're doing and your work will mature as you develop more skills.

Lol! Supertoast! XD Well, I'm glad some people like it. I'm still trying to experiment and stuff- I'm more of a manga gal myself so that's what I'll probably end up doing.

Alright, let me rephrase: Drawing from real life is an incredibly important aspect of drawing. That's what the entire premise of the Renaissance was based upon. Anime starts looking the same after a while, same eyes, same mouths, same noses, etc. What I suggest doing is drawing real life objects, get a friend to pose for you and draw them. Draw your hands, your feet, your arms, and so on. Draw apples (yeah, it's cliche but it helps) or various other fruit. I like anime, but drawing it seems like the easy way out.

Draw for yourself! What`s your passion?

You can`t decide that you are going to be a great artist by trying to please others. You just do what you do the best that you can and hopefully someone at sometime appreciates it.
