    Bookmarks - export and import

So that people can easily exchange lists of internet radio stations. Of course, in 34 days it might not matter anyway...

Well, internet radio is still around for the moment and I still wish there were an easy way to share bookmarks with other people.

Bookmarks that are shown in the Bookmarks view in the Media Library are stored in the %Appdata%\Winamp\winamp.bm file. You can open that file in Notepad and copy+paste the contents into anyone else's winamp.bm file :-)

I am migrating my Winamp from an XP Pro machine to a Vista one.

I found my winamp.bm but it was in the main Winanp folder and not in Apps.

I cannot get it to be recognised in the new Vista installation in the main Winamp folder - is this because it was never in the Apps one?

          Totally confused.

And I have just noticed that I have no winamp.ini file in the new Vista folder!

If you are using an old install then settings are saved in the install directory. If you are using a clean install of v5.5 or later then the default is to use %appdata%. This is easy to change, remove paths.ini in the install folder. I believe Vista has a tantrum if you try to use the installation folder to store settings.

Thanks j_d that removing the paths.ini fixed it.

Is there any chance of recovering the category entries I created on the old machine?

Copy your old settings over your new Winamp settings? I don't know what you mean by "category entries".

I found an add-on that enabled one to create sub folders of favourite streaming radio bookmarks. Thus one could categorise them in any way that might be useful.

Anyway I had not a lot of entries so I re-did them by hand.

Does the add-on have a name?

                      It's here.

What is Winamp? Why is Winamp? How is Winamp? All these burning questions and issues discussed within.

If you read its description then you would see that you need to make sure that you copy winamp.bmc to the new location.
