As cool as winamp's avs editor is, to set it on your desktop,I found this very cool trick you can use to enhance windows gui also.
here's what you do:
1.)turn on winamps avs open the editor and set it to display check both "overlay mode" and "set desktop to color".
2.)Using colorpad ( http://my.entic.net/~vmoya/ ) capture any color on your desktop.
3.)open your display properties go to the appearance tab,on the "item:" change the color on 3d objects and/or window,if your prefer, using colorpad's calculations.
4.)rub your eye's in disbelief.

How awsome is that?! prety cool huh!

i once did that by setting the background color of my telnet session to the overlay color and also desktop overlay. my teacher looked at me funny and said "how the hell can you program like that?"
