Winamp Crashes in Vista Ultimate x32

Well, my Winamp began to crash after 1 to 5 song playbacks of any songs. Sometimes it crashes right after I click play, sometimes - after 5 songs.

I run Vista Ultimate x32 on my Dell XPSm1330 laptop.

Here's w/e information Vista Crash Log contained.

I too am running the same OS with Winamp, and it crashes on me too. Very frustrating as I have switched from Windows Media Player 11 - been a user of WMP for some time now but can no longer think of any excuse to defend it, it's frankly terrible and crashes for seemingly no reason. A friend suggested that it's a problem with the library and that Winamp and WMP11 aren't reliable with a lot of files in the library - I have about 75-80GB of mp3s / wmas that I'm asking it to keep track of. Anyone know of this specific problem?

...Just seen another thread here describing this problem, they say that an older version of Winamp will help - will provide an error report later.

Sorry - new to the forums, apologise - running the default plugins that come with Winamp 5.52, nothing else.

Same here, latest version of winamp, 0 3rd party plugins.

I guess I have to find the 5.5 vanilla version.

Well, it surely isn't a problem with library with 5.52 in XP, I have about 13000 tracks (98 gigs) on my main WXP rig, and it never crashes, however, on my laptop under vista, it keeps crashing every time and the library is not even 5 gigs and only 430 tracks.

If you want any help, please attach both your "List Of Plugins" and HijackThis logs.

We need to see the "List of Plugins" too, as this shows us extra info about your Winamp installation and not just a list of installed plugins...

[Edit]

I give in :-/

For now, I just went to http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=winamp
and downloaded 5.24. Runs like a champ, but of course, no bento.

I am now running Winamp, latest pro version with multiple plug-ins on my new Dell Inspiron 1525. I'm running Vista Ultimate.

It's crashing ALL THE TIME.

Thing is, I had it installed on my old laptop (inspiron 6400), same plugins, same version of Vista and it was FINE.

Makes no sense to me whatsoever. I do not want to reinstall Vista but may have to if this continues. Very frustrating and disappointing
