Browse by folder bug?

It seems that Winamp Pro's "Browse by Folder" function does not see any music that is encoded using AAC into a file with an .mp4 extension.

Since Winamp can see, play, and do all the other normal operations on .mp4 files, this looks like a silly bug.

I did try renaming some .mp4's to mp3. Browse by Folder then found the files. But Winamp wouldn't play them which is not unreasonable given they have the inappropriate file extension.

I'm rather irritated because I purchased the Winamp Pro upgrade specifically for "Browse by Folder" and my music collection is 100& AAC/MP4 :-(

Can anyone confirm that this is indeed a bug and offer any suggestions for bringing this to attention of the developers? Suggested workarounds also very much appreciated.

Update: Well, I was able to workaround this by renaming all of my *.mp4 files to *.m4a.
