BUG: winamp doesn't release files in win exp
using 5.8, upgraded from 5.666
win10, latest patches. open 2 win exp windows. double click a mp3 in one and start it playing in winamp. stop it playing in winamp. try to move the file, or folder its in, to another location, in the 2nd win exp window. its not allowed. even if you start another song in a different folder in winamp, its still not allowed. you have to quit winamp altogether, then np. afaik this is new behavior, and it SUCKS. please fix this and the mp3 crashes before you give up on the desktop app PLEASE. The Windows OS has always done this. A file that is open in an app can be copied, but not moved. Stopping a file from playing in Winamp does not close it, afaik.
What happens if you close your version of Winamp (thus closing the file) before trying to move the file or it's folder? Windows 10 Home 64-bit v1809 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

Update:
So I just had a situation where I WAS able to move the file. Time seems to matter. So I played a file, stopped it, then played a second file, then stopped it, then waited a good bit, and then I was able to move the first file. So it is possible, but just not right away. Also, idk if playing a second file is or isn't necessary. So my original report stands, Winamp should release a file immediately once stopped. Maybe Winamp keeps a file open to prevent having to reopen it if the file is restarted after a pause or stop; or repeated (if that option is enabled).
Playing a 2nd file probably releases the previous file fairly quickly. Also if you have the in_mp3.dll option enabled to store the entire mp3 file in memory before playing it (if enough memory is allocated for that purpose), you can see if disabling that option makes any difference. I think only ur alac encoder, which I don't believe was involved or invoked.
The issue is apparently intermittent and kinda random, and seems to depend on factors like time passed and playing other files, etc. it's just irritating when it happens, esp when u r trying to clean up and organize files on a HD. I haven't yet figured out a surefire way to reproduce it, but it does happen now and then.
