WMA Lossless Support

Hi There

I am currently running Winamp PRO version 1.4.15 on a Galaxy S4. I was wondering whether Winamp plays back WMA Lossless files in full lossless fidelity or does it down sample them to a lower resolution.

Most of my music collection is encoded in this format and I don't seem to have a problem playing the lossless files at all but I want to make sure I am getting the best possible audio quality.

If not I will probably have to do a mass conversion to FLAC or some other lossless format that is fully supported.

I would appreciate any input anyone may have.

I converted all my FLACs to ALAC just so they would work on istuff too. idk tho if ALAC (which uses a m4a extension) works on the WfA app.

True but WMA support can be tricky to come by and I can't find any "official" documentation stating that it does support WMA Losses at full resolution.

Never mind, I've decided to do a full conversion of my music library. The future is in FLAC and other open source technologies. Unlike what Microsoft, Apple, or Sony try to ram down our throats.

just FYI, ALAC is now open source and royalty free. FLAC is great, but the problem is that apple stuff won't natively use it. ALAC is supported by apple and winamp on windows, and lots of other stuff has or probably soon will have ALAC support, (it comes in a m4a wrapper).

*idk if winamp on android supports ALAC tho.
