Contributing Artist issue

I own Nexus S with Jelly Bean. Many of my songs on the PC have more then Contributing Artist tag assigned to them. For example, I have a generic tag "Foreign" for all foreign music, and then another tag for each author. However, Winamp does not recognize those are two tags. In Windows 7, the tag would e.g. be Foreign;Bocelli, but Winamp writes it as Foreign/Bocelli and thinks that it's just one artist. This also means that Winamp does not show Foreign tag at all, unless there is no other additional tag assignes. Could you help? Thanks

winamp for desktop always treats a string as a unique entry. it does not, afaik, recognize any multiple frames/fields or "separator characters"

my guess then is WFA is the same way.

But that is really strange. So, there is no way that winamp could recognise two artists as seperate? What is the purpose of that function of the tag anyway?

Yes, mp3. Is there a way to get around this? Can winamp play songs by folder structure, but in a way that recognises songs in subfolders? Or some better idea?

mp3 has TPE1 = Artist and TPE2 = Albumartist.

winamp has smartviews. you can find lots of threads on them in the forums.

i can't really give u a better answer until u really flesh out what you want to do.

E.g. i have a folder named american music. In it i have subfolders rihanna and eminem, but no songs. In the rihanna subf. I have Love the way you lie song. It is mp3, and it has 3 artists in its tag, american music, rihanna and eminem. Beside that song i have one more song where american music and rihanna are artists, Only girl in the world. In eminem subf. I have just one song, 8 mile, and american music and eminem as artists in its tag. What i want is that based on this winamp shows me in the artists view that i have:
1 american music (all songs)
2 rihanna (love the way you lie, only girl in the world)
3 eminem (love the way you lie, 8 mile)

Sorry for my writing, its a cell

whatever is in TPE1 will be the artist. there are no multiple TPE1 frames in winamp, nor recognized separator characters.

you could make a smartview for each artist you want to see, but obviously thats a PITA. still, it could be done. something like "metadata contains horrible rap artist"

you can also base smartviews off of folder location. you could also employ the albumartist tag. but whatever you do, will involve some reading up and experimentation on your part.

Definitely a bug in the way tags are parsed for MP3 files.

For example, my collection "The Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe" has cluttered my artist pick list with 258 spurious/variant entries to the effect of:

Steven Novella/Bob Novella/Jay Novella/Evan Bernstein/Rebecca Watson/...

On the other hand, multiple contributing artists in WMA files are parsed correctly and appear as separate entries in the artist list.

Idk if its a bug, so much as a difference between the tagging standards.

my solution has be to assign TPE2 (Albumartist) tags to everything and browse by that. works well.

Many people look for jobs in the federal sector. To double your chances during job search, take care of your resumes. Federal resume writing services reviews should help you find a good resume service.
