Nothing against those who love it, but I'll bet it's nice to be out of the South.
Last bought... I had to make an emergency run for some Frank's RedHot and some wings at the grocery store. I was busy with some important stuff for work, but the debilitating craving stopped me so I had to do it. Don't forget to live before you die. ![]() |

yeah i agree for the most part, i doubt these things will last to the nearly three year average i get from a pair of caterpillar boots, but i don't see them disintegrating too quickly either.

Don't know yet. Wells Cargo is still building it for me.
![]() Last purchased: PNY Optima RAM (DDR2 667Mhz - 1GB) Bought two ($18 each at Best Buy) to replace the two 512MB cards in my laptop. Hopefully this will make it a bit faster since the old RAM cards are 533Mhz. |

What is your FSB on the processor? I think RAM gets faster if it increases but without passing the FSB speed.

It's an AMD Mobile Sempron. It runs at an effective 1600Mhz bus speed (I think the Mobile Semprons have the memory controller on-die like the desktop Athlons and whatnot). I bought this laptop in 2006, so it's a little old now. The processor is 1.6Ghz Socket S1. I want to upgrade the processor as well, but I can't find the model I want available as OEM or retail. They seem to be putting all of them into new laptops instead of packaging them for individual resale. I guess I'll just have to end up buying a new laptop sooner rather than later. $36 for doubling my RAM's capacity and increasing its speed at the same time isn't a bad deal, though. I'm hoping that'll keep my laptop running for at least another 6-8 months before I just can't stand it anymore.

It looks like (on your processor) there is no "Front-Side Bus" but instead "HyperTransport" rated at 800 MHz, so if the idea holds true, there will be a benefit to increasing your RAM's speed up to 800 MHz, meaning your increase from 533 to 667 will be measurable/beneficial. The way it was explained to me, increasing the RAM's speed beyond 800 MHz wouldn't help the computer any more than RAM at 800 for your processor, unless it were overclocked.

The motherboard in my laptop won't handle RAM speeds above 667Mhz, and I'm still running XP (32-bit), so that's why I got 2 x 1GB DDR2-667Mhz. But you're right; the HyperTransport is 800Mhz (dual channel makes it effectively 1600Mhz, iirc). I've got the RAM installed, but I haven't seen a huge improvement in performance yet. I guess I have to stress it pretty good to see the real benefits.

way too much money to have someone rip a wisdom tooth from my mouth.
Ya know, in a futile attempt to start setting the internet records straight... Pain scale of everything done: The tooth cracking >>> tearing the ligaments in my knee >>> post operative jaw/cheek pain (not at the site of tooth removal) due to the dentist trying to make her way that far back in my mouth >>> having an anestetic ring block done on a toe >>> hitting my finger with a hammer >>> breaking my wrist >>> drinking a beer >>> dental surgery performed on extracted tooth. |

I had to have my wisdom teeth extracted without anesthetic. At the time I had no health insurance, and the guy that did it did it for free because of my bad financial situation.
He refused to give anesthetic because it greatly increased risk of complications, and without insurance, I'd be screwed if that happened. He basically said, take the 1 hour pain of the operation (plus a few days recovery), or take the long term, constant pain of 4 impacted wisdom teeth (which was some of the most unbearable pain I have ever experienced). The operation was hell, the recovery not much better, but it was very much worth it. I had some pretty fat cheeks for a week or so. ![]() Last bought - nothing. I won't be able to buy anything that isn't a necessity for a while now. See another thread. I'll make it soon. Don't forget to live before you die. ![]() |

new keyboard, got it yesterday, starting to adjust to it, the wrist rest doesn't come off so it'll take slightly longer than normal, most people go "huh?" when i tell them i'm adjusting, then i explain i realise when i need to correct and backspace nearly without thinking about it and they'll only be able to tell cause i type slower.
anyway, keyboard was replacement for logitech G15 which lasted nearly a year, i'm done with logitech, they're input devices break too soon for me, microsoft only from now on again as soon as the replacement logitech mouse shits out. Microsoft Sidewinder X6 i like it a lot, no LCD on this one is the only real downside, but it seems like support for that isn't so great anymore, one program wrote it out, not nearly all the new games that come out have it anymore, getting to be less and less usefull anyway, but i'm still sad to see it go. Another thing about pens - I have trouble finding (even expensive) pens that won't skip or fade while writing in very cold temperatures. The ink just gets thick and doesn't transfer well through the ball point. I'm curious to see if those pen refills are good for that.
