XP, To hate or not to hate. that is the question

who HATES Windows XP (I myself Love it. then I'm using XP Pro, I heard Home SUX)
anyways the Main Reason why I love XP is because of the APP sharing that you can do (I'm in it right now and I would post a screenshot with this post but I'm doing it from the remote desktop (if I hit print screen it'll copy my screen [with the other desktop showing] to my clipboard, not hers)
I was gonna start this thread out as a h4x0rz thread but she might be looking at me type this lmao anyways.
I love it because I can work on her computer (which has a cable modem btw) and look at all her files and all the things that she has that I dont have.
only problem is there is a slight lag between screen refreshs and I cant edit typos on the fly unless I catch them as I'm typing them.
for comparison I'll post right after this one and the MODS can check this IP address against the IP address in my next post (I wont post a screen shot unless someone asks because I'm in 1024x768 and I dont want to waste a ton of bandwitdth with a crapass pic.
the pic is on my hard drive if anyone wants a looksie at it though
anyways untill next time (this makes a great, albeit slow, IP proxy)

I like Windows XP but Prefer Solaris for stability and usability. If people made games for it it would rule all. I think rloging onto another system is far more preferable to that crappy desktop sharing you describe above. I'd post a screenshot but I can't be arsed.

AHAHA!
i am a long-standing member (well, 8months) of the shock/thief forums, and NOBODY has been able to consistently run shock1/2 and thief 1/2 on xp. no settings are proven to work.

Where's that rule? I thought the point was to enforce them. Can I disregard all past and furure PM's about my sig size now?

I can?

I don't like XP. I have still old Win98SE on my home PC. It's best OS to have these nice features, runs DOS software (old games) and Win32 apps.

the compatability setings only work about 50% of the time, and at least somthing like ME crashed back to windows prior to totaly fucking up. XP just fucks up.

Dear Fool,

actually no, ME/9x will most of the time crash to a beutifull BSOD. winxp crashes and you dont need to reboot unless you realyl mess things up. 90% of the time it will crash out of a program and come back to the desktop not "totally fuck up".

i guess you need to learn to be a responsible PC user

have a great night.

I don't care. I shut down the machine every night (too noisy to sleep in same room if PC is on). It works fine for me, I don't even remember last time I had problems with stability.

so far the only game I havent been able to run is RCT. all my other games run perfectly (some run better than with 2k and 98)
as for the rebooting I hibernate my system (I don't know if that is considered rebooting or not, because the data in memory gets saved to disk then when XP starts back up it reloads the data (although the bios functions and runs all of it's little tests and stuff) confussring for me (no sp)

hybernate is actually better for your PC than shutting it off. when u turn u PC on there is a moderate Vspike that hits all your hardware this leads to a shorter life span on your rig.

i just have power man turn off my mon/hdd

might I add if Explorer.exe (not IExplorer.exe) crashes XP gracefully restarts the process instead of BSODing[edit] restarting your computer[/edit], and if you think Explorer.exe is taking up too much memory you can KILL THE PROCESS, you'll lose your Icons and the taskbar but the Taskmanager has a nifty little thing called the RUN command (maybe you've heard of it before) access the taskmanager by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del (as in Win95/98/ME, NT and 2k you had to go through that window thingy and click on Task Manager)
