Updating the Library to recognize moved files

A few months back I gave star ratings every song I have.
My mp3s are split between my J: and K: drives and are neatly organized in folders.

Both my J: and K: drives died.

Luckily I had everything backed up to dvds in the same folder structures.
I figured I should be able to copy everything to my H: drive and somehow winamp would realize that those are the same files and update the library accordingly and I wouldn't lose my playcount, ratings, and playlists.

I don't see how to make that update happen.

That is so weird. J and K are my music drives too. I hope mine doesn't die....

If you can find which file stores the ratings you could possibly do a find and replace search and change every instance of j:\ and k:\ to h:\

this would ONLY work if the file is in plain text.

If it is and what file it is, somebody else would have to help you out there.

Editing the database file itself is a pain, though you could try the ML Import/Export plugin to update the paths (see third link).

Playlists are stored in the Winamp\Plugins\ml folder as m3u files. You can open those in Notepad and use the Find/Replace feature to change the old paths to the new one.

Good Winamp plugins by Joonas, DrO and shaneh.
If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.
