I like the use of the different shades of read to create a layered look. The buttons down the bottom aren't anywhere as interesting though.

Like with your avatar - elegant (apart from the buttons in this case) - but too dark.

Damn. Alrighty. Well, first of all, I have some constructive criticism. But if I said it on here, I'd get flamed.

If we ever want to do a collab, we probably won't be able to this year. I'm going to China and Hawaii for five weeks in the summertime. Maybe there's some time.

Does it say "SEAK" on purpose , or are your fingers feeling dyslexic ?

I fail to see what soap prepared for use in milling cloth has to do with Winamp?

my bad I thought that the transparency wasthe end of the skin (iow I thought that the skin ended where the transparency began. [exp. below] and that lowered the C-buttons hence the WA3 BMC [bitch, moan, complain]) sorry for raggin on your skin Skinme!
I thought that the skin was like this:

Whoa, jon, don't be defacin' my skin with yer mucky jpeg format there willya?

Cleanup, speak up and face a flamin' like a proper man.

I think I'll redo the frame since it's a little crappy. Same with the cbuttons,shuf/rep. My style lends more to LCDs than metal as my current portfolio shows. Any suggestions for cbuttons?

Alright...

You see the one-pixel bevel thing you used? The highlights are too bright, IMO. Then, the bottom one should be darker than the main colour. Not lighter.

If the highlights are too bright, it looks cartoonish and just... not right.

I know you did this in mspaint too didn't you

Such patience...

I must commend you on the shuffle buttons - really different - very unique to me - I can not recall ever seeing one like that before (although there might be one out there) - I just love the idea of there being two buttons and if you don't mind, I might just incorporate a similar concept into my next skin, just the concept, not your work of course
I look forward to clicking this one (too)

P.S. the one shuffle button needs to be the same size as the rest of them

If anyone can find any of the skins I made please email them to Forevever@aol.com
I can't remember all the names but specifically hunting for Lascivious, and DEVOUR (compilation with Jax) and any in the Impulse series which had 6 total. Auriferous, Gilt, Impulse, Nadir, and 2 others I can't remember but you dig.

i think nucleo's alienmind skin had a nice shuf/rep button animation aswell.
red and metal must be the flavour of the month
personally those cbuttons look a little too 'normal' for the skin. maybe because they're all square?

Nice ! It`s a little dark for me. I must have a crappy monitor. That`s about the 99th dark comment I`ve made.

Design looks a little like my "Crate" guitar amplifier.

To be honest, I don't really know how to do shading and such to make it 3D. That was just a stab in the dark. Also, I shaded it on a lighter background and then changed the background.

Also, not made in MSPaint but in PSP7. I've used layers and gradient fill for the metal colour but that's all. The rest is pixel work and text tool.

I agree I don't like the cbuttons no more, or the frame metal thingy. The middle cbuttons were slightly small, for all it matters, due to the red thing having to be inside the button area.

Anybody know of any good tutorials for 3D from scratch. * v. embarassed *

I just do my skinning like I`m drawing. Basically draw the outlines, etc., then add the shadows, gradients, color and lighting effects usually in paint. But I do use PSP and another program for gradients and lighting sometimes. Of course you have to have a concept of drawing forms and perspectives. I`ve drawn all my life so this I have a knack for.
There are easier ways most likely with the advanced programs but this is the only way I know at present. Am sure someone will give you better advice as to using PSP 7 to full advantage. I finally got PSP 7 but I`m like the little dog chasing the car, I`ve caught it but now I don`t know what to do with it !

Cleanup, I'll have one more go at sorting out the metal. If I can't do it, you can join the project, if you want.

Naw, I just can't spell

Here's my retry:

The reason there's no detail on the LCD is coz I started it again using the basic shapes and colours of before.

I plan to have an inset bar, divided up for the cbuttons and shuf/rep etc.

BTW, the screenshot's not great - the metal is ever so slightly lighter. Well not lighter, but the adjustment layer isn't as strong so the detail looks better.

ss4.bmp

I've posted a bmp to show the real colours since my png before doesn't much like the skin. I know .bmps aren't cool for the net but it was my only option.

Thanks Cazsius. I'm wildly trying to design some nice cbuttons.

It looks much better in .bmp format....

Still a little too dark, but it's ok.

You'll have to be careful with the buttons not to create too much contrast or the background could end up just looking black on some peoples monitors.
