Can't Connect

I just can't figure out whats wrong. I've downloaded and installed the DNAS and DSP. I've setup the DNAS and made a new password. I've set the IP to Localhost set up the encoder and output. And I've checked my firewall, it doesn't block the 8000 port. But for some reason, everytime I push Connect, it'll say connecting for a second, then say switch back to Not Connected. Can anyone help?

wrong password? or wrong settings. If you changed the password, you need to kill/close shoutcast server and start it again.

If you have norton antivirus, or other antivirus that block ports as well.

check if that port is listening.

open a command prompt window
type netstat -an |find "800"

It should show output with 8000 and/or 8001 listening

Cheers

what did the find command show ???

it is shows nothing, then shoutcast is NOT running or listening on port 8000

saying it doesnt work, doenst help anyone in the forum. look at sc_serv.log (if you can find that file on your PC) and look for NAK, ERROR, FATAL. If you have errors listed, its time to read the stikcy posts again, thats why those posts are stuck at the top of forum. they contain all the how-to stuff you need to get a shoutcast stream going (unless the ISP blocks you)

nothing listed eh? then port 8000 is not what shoustcast is using or its not running on your PC

remember shoutcast.com IS NOT THE SERVER you are trying to connect to, it would be yourself (own pc) or someone else PC running shoutcast server portion.

look for sc_serv.log, open it with notepad, look for errors, edit sc_serv.ini (config file) make sure that PortBase=xxxx is what you put into winamp

Again its not listen in the netstat, its from any of the following.

- Blocked (antivirus, firewall, other program using that port)
- not running (big duh)
- shoutcat not runnin on that port, see PortBase=XXXXX in sc_serv.ini to be sure
- Shoutcast all ready running, and you forgot to stop/kill it before editing sc_serv.ini

Cheers

you all ready had shoutcast running, and tried to run it again.

anyway, read more of the posts here, including sticky posts, and clicking on search. its better than just signing up and asking for help. most of the new users have their answers staring in their face, but forget to read the entire post.
