As you said, elchevelle (and all of us here) have had our crazy shit happen, some of it was really horrible shit that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies, and if you know where to look, it's all posted here in one way or another. The difference is that the focus was on getting insight and finding solutions rather than dwelling on the problems.
In my own recent situation, I was in a position where my family was about to lose 100% of income, our home, our health care, our ability to pay enormous student loans, and possibly all of our credit as a result when we were both simultaneously laid off. As a reaction, Renee and I went on a more or less "job hunt rampage", sending nearly a dozen long and involved application packets all over the continent (multiple states and countries) every day. For more than 4 months, we got an equally huge amount of rejection letters, every day. We studied for, took, and passed test after test to become more qualified, and yet still everyone seemed to just hire people they knew instead of us. Hundreds of apps, hundreds of failures, hundreds of dollars down the drain on postage alone. Many long road trips and cheap motel stays for interviews all turned out to be fail after fail after fail after fail after fail. Finally, after a third of a year of this shit, someone hired Renee, and just today, someone hired me in a neighboring school district for the same job. I type all this not to go on some ego trip, but it just goes to show that when shit hits the fan, there's always a way that some hard work can get you out of it if you can find an internal bulldozer to push yourself to do it. Don't forget to live before you die.

It's about damn time; thanks, and it'll be a Guinness 250th Anniversary Stout that I found in a grocery store in Sioux Falls, SD on the way back from the interview. I might post about it later on the "when the juices flow" thread in the recycle bin.

how can he get laid? he pretty much seems to walk on his balls, i mean seriously, masturbation is off limits obviously, but damn! you know what really got me in this vid? he performed for schoolgirls, those kids are still going through puberty, they shed a tear or two, next day.... back to being the dumbasses they are (ok, dumbasses is too strong, uneducated maybe?) nonetheless, this really is inpiring, thanks relik, if i were to be an amputee of that degree.... i'd probably ask someone to kill me (and dont do the "it can be arranged" thing, gah... whoever will write this is a sadistic bastard) |

Well, that's still good important work, more important to me than many would believe. More details on that later. Sometimes "boring" can be translated to "low pressure", "low stress", and "relaxing". It's all a matter of perspective. I have a family member that works night shift at a hotel. He gets to relax most of the time he's at work, even if it is a bit boring.

Yeah... I've done gigs like that... it does suck... Inventories especially suck. Reminds me of losing your keys over and over and over every 90 days for a three day period.
Plus walking up to 40 miles a day on concrete didn't do me any good.... You paint on a smiley face and keep going. They call that character. It gets hard and sometimes it gets impossible. As far as women go.... some will... some won't.... next.. If you run into one whose life's mission isn't to piss you off, she's probably a keeper. Global Movies and TV God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to hide the bodies of people who pissed me off. |

Work to me has been good or bad not so much based on what the job description is, but more on who's there with you. If you work with good people, even shoveling shit out of horse stalls or bailing hay in 98 degree weather or picking strawberries on your hands and knees for 11 hours is quite fun. If you work with bad people, even the best jobs suck. I've had a lot of different types of jobs, and really, it's the people that make the difference more than the work itself, for me at least. I know a few guys who dealt with Taming of the Shrew, but women have been systematically trained to treat us as the enemy. If it rains it must be a mans fault.
My mom was a serious feminist back in the 1950's thru 70's, but my ex-wife changed her mind. Her mom 2. Shit... I had 2 -70's bra burners on my side and couldn't win. ![]() Quote:
