Hi everyone:

Check your SHOUTcast Server for a ban file. This is usually seen when a DNAS (that's the streaming source or interface between the source and the server) connects to it and instructs your server to be listed publicly on the SHOUTcast YP or Winamp TV listings.

If there IS a ban, you're SOL. Nothin' you or anyone else (INCLUDING THE MODERATORS) can do.

Cheers for now & Happy Holidays

Hi everyone:

Archive - IF there is a ban_rip file, that means you are banned and NO moderator can do anything about it. And even if they could, you're gonna have to give them a much better reason than what you gave above as to why they should even bother.

In other words, regardless of the outcome, live & let let live and move on. The past is always history.

Cheers for now & Happy Holidays everyone

I really need someone to see it and tell me if everything is ok to broadcast it without beeing banned in the future.

Hi everyone:

Archive - Even if it was someone on your subnet, its doubtful (highly doubtful in fact) the mods can do anything about it.

Unless you are an ISP, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TRAFFIC ORIGINATING FROM YOUR IP.. It's as simple as that.

Like I said before, if it turns out you ARE banned, live & let live and move on. There's still IceCast

Cheers for now & Happy Holidays everyone

If you change your pub flag, when shoutcast handshakes it will either say "shoutcast has added me successfully" or "You have been banned for being a jerk".

So you got two choices. Beg for clemency (and it seems like you PO'ed some moderators) or get a new IP and follow the rules. The latter is probably easier.

A warning that the stream is porn might be polite when you post it in a public forum.

I think this post and the other one might come really close to breaking the rules against site promotion.

It seems like the further you go, the less you help your case.

I just looked at your stream. It is very obvious you are breaking the rules, and were most likely the reason for the ban.

About the bann

I just changed my hosting shoutcast server and tried to connect my tv on the list yesterday.

My tv was on the list on Winamp for 3 hours only.

It says : <01/11/06@02:38:45> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<01/11/06@02:38:45> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (This network has been permanently banned due to a previous violation of the SHOUTcast directory terms of service.)

I want to know wich rules i have broken because i have read many times now the rules and don't see why i'm again bann.

I just put videos on it and check about my bitrate or something else like wrong information but found nothing.

I'm looking for someone ( if the moderator have no time for me its ok) who can tell me whats happen ?

Thanks to tell me

Here is my adress :213.186.37.93:8028

The first time i was banned and my TV was of for three weeks.
The problem was corrected. My hosting server let me in private for 3 weeks and i was asking here after this if everything was ok but nobody never answer my questions.
As i saw in your rules someone can be banned and if they follow the rules and take another ip ( if the former ip was not debann ) its ok.
I don't understand whats happen right now and i'm sure i'm not the only one !
Can you please explain me in details ?
Thanks a lot

Jeeper One why are you so insolent ?
I just asking a simple question and no one want to answer.
Its not quite normal to be bann because i changed my ip and follow exactly the rules.
I know that its possible to change ip and broadcast again.
But why i'm not allowed to do it ?

Hi everyone:

Okay then...Plainly put (as plain as humanly possible so even YOU should be able to understand).....

You were banned for some other reason. Read this.

If THAT doesn't explain it better to you, then you're even more DUMB & CLUELESS than I thought.

Archive just curious but are you associated with http://www.boardriderstv.com because this is what your streams IP points to.

If you are running a porn feed then you would need to make sure that you cap off at just enough to save room for others and from getting banned. Porn will do this instantly (talking from experience) and most likely was the reason for the band. I can't be for certain because it currently says your stream is down.

Take a look here: http://www.radiotoolbox.com/online_tools/bandwidth.php

Use this caculator to see how much bandwith you will need for your stream. Porn attracts a lot of viewers who will stay connected to your server for hours or days on end. For this to work you will need to know:

(1) How many people do you plan on serving. 20, 30, 200

(2) At what rate do you want to serve them. This ammount is based on how you encode your movies and includes both audio and video. 64kbps, 100, 500 ect.

(3) How much upstream bandwith do you recieve with OVH (assuming this is your hosting provider - reverse IP gave this info) for streaming. 1.5mbps, 10mbps, 100mbps.

(4) How much data can you send safely without your hosting account being suspended (that's usually the 80gigs or 1500gigs per month limits that your host allows you).

A porn stream will attract a many viewers however don't think that you will make millions off of it. Most likely if they are using Winamp to view your streams, then they are probably not going to want to pay for whatever is on your site especially if it refers them to a site that cost $30 a month.

Who knows why you where banned. Take this as a lessoned learned and make sure you are ready for the next time. Evaluate what you are planning to do with the stream now and 5 months from now. Look at your financial situation and ask yourself, what if this thing flops? How will the site continue to make money? Also if you have porn, make sure you have plenty of content. Two or three videos will bore quick and you won't have anyone viewing your stream anyway. Stop think this through from top to bottom. That will let you know if you are ready. I am speaking on experience. Like you I jumped out in the field and wasn't ready to play. So I got banned. I stopped, looked and evaluated what I was doing wrong, and tried again. This time more sucessful than previous; now you can read my post at the top asking for a little more direction and reason. Like you I have been banned again, however I don't think that this time it was my fault (more than likely it was my service provider screwing something up.) I will have to look at my situation again and start over.

If you would like more help either with your stream or your new venture feel free to PM me or shoot me an e-mail at ywatson@gmail.com

Hope this helps

Yeshua

Archive, the only thing that I could tell you is to open your server back up and let us see what is going on. Or give us every detail about your setup. This way non-moderators can make predictions about why you where banned.

I've talked to a lot of webmasters and if money is your thing, you are really barking up the wrong tree.

Bandwidth is expensive and member support non existent. 95% of your viewers won't even ever visit your website and probably 1 in a few hundred of those will actually spend anything.

I've found that for site promotion, buying ads will give you more page exposure per dollar than being in the YP.

Most likely, your hosting company will make more than you do.

If you even break even.

That means for newbies that the stream was not at the bandwidth that it it was advertised as, or the stream title wasn't what the content was, or the rating was wrong.

Archive, you state that your stream is at 150kbps however your video runs at apporx. 113kbps. Another reason is you have your stream set to 30 people. This would mean that you have a 3.7mbps alocated to you alone. Its possible that you where taking on more people you could handle, and that your not actually streaming at 150kbps.

Just my guestimation.

If this can get you banned then a lot of stations would stay on that banned list. I could never get my server to display the "current song" ever. Hell I gave up on that thing.
