They're agile too, when it comes to grabbing a bit of food, like a seal in a zoomarine.
4 new presets. As I usually work in half-darkness the tones chosen may not be perceived under bright light conditions. Please adjust the gamma/brightness if necessary. |

1 new preset. Code based on Water reflection by Martin/Flexi, spiral by Stahlregen and 3d rotation by Shifter.

When testing the preset fragile planet on a laptop the spiral wasn't visible. Could it be the different aspect ratio of the screen? I work with a 1024x768 resolution.
Now, as I haven't been yet able to see Flexi's wonderful planet, tried to make one. Hope you like it. |

Heh, great use of custom waves and shapes as always. My favourite so far is the paperflame preset.
![]() As for the spiral in fragile planet, it appears that it gets placed offscreen - I guess there's something off with the 3D projection. |

It seems to disappear when the aspect ratio changes. Will try to use aspectx and aspecty in the formula.
Three new presets. Enjoy. |

Yeah, it seems x/y is somewhat off in the custom waves - putting the spiral base at y = 0.18 is the earliest it will show up at all for me (16:10 aspect ratio).
You know, maybe you should check out some of the older presets - shifter, Eo.S, Phat, fiShbRaiN, Rovastar, flexi and a lot of other preset authors have a lot of great examples of what you can do with custom waves and shapes - maybe you even find a few custom shapes/waves you can export and use for yourself. ![]() |

With time I hope will analyze them. As for the spiral, whenever a preset has code for 3d rotation, the behavior gets rather unpredictable, like suddenly the wave disappears.
Some new presets and remixes. Hope you like it. |

I apologize for the 2 last presets, as they were made on some pc with an odd monitor and may look strange, as they do on my computer. I'll soon post a new version.
Anyway, I have 2 questions. First, I would like to normalize the response of presets that depend on value1/2 as it changes a lot from one music to another. Is there some code for a parameter that detects the music gain, that value1/2 can be multiplied by? Second, and simpler, I need a code to rotate a wave around its center, like having a line draw a circunference. Thanks for your help. |

Hello. I tried to emulate with a custom wave the most convincing real-life optical illusion I know. Cheers.
St Goody, your preset shows big white spots, but it could be some issue with the video card. |

Thank you for the feedback. MD has really great possibilities, and there are plenty of resources from other authors to be based on.
Today the proposals are papparazzi, comb collection, shapesaver and Op tart. See you. |

Hi. 7 new presets: Mind the gap, checkers, multiples, and 4 optical illusions. Op illusions 1 and 2 are based on Akiyoshi Kitaoka's work. Op illusion 4 is the turning wheel illusion. The wave also draws several different shapes as it gains momentum.
On the last one, I would like to have it always draw a circular shape even in different aspect ratio monitors. Is it possible? Cheers! |

There are two read-only variables, aspectx and aspecty, available in the per-frame code, which can be multiplied with x/y values to make the result look the same in every aspect ratio. You need to pass them to custom shapes/waves with q variables...
Have a look at the preset authoring guide that comes with milkdrop for details. |

Some presets using geometric distortion applied to tiles.
- planet Escher - tileable drawings of M.C. Escher. - tiles (Nakamura)- a few curious drawings by japanese artist Nakamura. - polar chess- an example of use of a png with transparency. Tip: Copy all the images to the textures folder (even with the last MD version). Keep the Escher and Nakamura presets in separate folders and use spacebar to cycle. |
