@skywalker6705: i've had issues with the loading as well but i think that's related to me hi-jacking the input plugins - i can get it to happen on a clean install.
alphaware, he he, don't you love it!
though what WhiteRayven said would be useful if you could (just attach a txt file of the plugins installed)

No Problem

No prob, I'd be happy to do something to help out.

My goal for my winamp is to have it handle pretty much all media on my PC. Only thing I'm missing right now is decent HTML and JPG support (in explination of how many plugins I have)

Gonna have to be a few posts (this is 1/2 my inputs)

Plugins

I'm going to post the General plugins, considering Output, DSP, and Vis don't have much bearing I don't think (correct me if I'm wrong)

very true in your case just a few you've got there

will have a look through to see if there's any i recognise - have seen one or two plugins mentioned elsewhere which occasionally conflict with mine (see if they are in your list).

@Plague: teensy bit off topic, but I did my fair share of XML and Maki programming in wa3 alpha nad beta stages, what's preventing moving the PL into the vis area, I actually wouldn't mind that feature at all, with it being detachable and all.

I haven't even looked at the default .wal or anything so I don't know whatwould be needed, besides manipulating XML. Would any Maki be needed?

Okay, just thought about it and yes, makie would be needed, I assume the full engine isn't supported ect.

What's holding that back? I really like it and might give it a shot myself.

Yes, all that would be required would be an alteration of the MAKI scripts, but the author of the Modern Skin didn't include the .m files, so unless there's a decompiler somewhere...

And what about classic skin users? Guys like me who can't aford to have modern skins all the time due to lack of a decent computer? or even people who don't want to use modern skins but want tu use this plugin?
They(we) wouldn't be able to use this plugin would they?

@Dextro: it's really just a normal window that is skinned based on the current skin -> winamp controls that

as it is, Winamp v2.9x+ nad 5.x will be supported for use (well that's when skin support was added in )

should get some done on this in the next few days

I've been thinking lately about how DrO's going to layout the three panes for the Extended Playlist - the playlist itself, the queue, and the library view. I was also thinking about what kind of options it could have. Aghh, too much thinking IMHO, the extended playlist should be highly customizable. Since I'm such a preference-oriented person, and since so many people learn about features by reading through the preferences, I present my rendition of Extended Playlist Preferences, in c# (PS, this is only as relate to layout, "x" indicates defaults)

This is purely for entertainment/inspiration/post count, this if from my own mind, not DrO's.

***General Tab***

[x] Use Extended Playlist

Library }These could be drop-down menus
( ) Left Pane
( ) Main Area (Enables Tabs)
(x) Right Pane
( ) Don't Show

Queue
( ) Left Pane
( ) Main Area (Enables Tabs)
(x) Right Pane
( ) Don't Show
( ) Show Under Library

[x] Group Same-Side Views in Tabs
[ ] Show "Now Playing" Button (opens ML)
[x] Double-click Hides Panes
[x] Display Field Titles

***Library Tab***

Show:
[x] Current Playlist
[ ] Local Media
[x] Playlists
[x] Devices
[ ] Internet Radio
[ ] Internet TV
[ ] Recent Items
[x] Bookmarks

[x] Enable Expanding/Contracting Items
[x] Return to Current Playlist on Deselect

***Queue Tab***

[x] Enable Queueing

Hotkey
[x] Q
[ ] Alt+Q
[x] Alt+Click
[x] Context Menu

[ ] Advanced Title Formatting
{_________________} [Copy From PL] [Help]
[ ] Display Field Titles
[x] Enable "Enqueue" Button in Playlist
[x] Indicate Queueing in Playlist

Well, that's all I can come up with for now. This was really just an exercise in how much I could make myself salivate Hope DrO can get some good ideas from it, maybe solidify ideas he was already working on.

@DrO: I know it's just a normal window but some guys back there were talking about using Maki to do it and that's why I jumped in and asked that.

@Dextro: was just clarifying for this plugin
the maki implement is an interesting idea though as you say not everyone can use modern skins all the time (i'm in your corner Dextro )

@EdgeOfEpsilon: some interesting ideas there - will look into it more soon

well JTFE has had some love lately so it's time for this one to get some love too (just to show that it's not dead/dormant/etc).

good news is that vis is now back up again when using this one, woot (fixed around my hacks )

as well font's increase/decrease correctly (just to init the size correctly now!)

now to work on the known issues (frame handling etc) and make that sidecar area useable for a basic Winamp3 style for the moment!

been working on this most of last night and today (little tired now)

selectable sidecar options (loaded playlists, selected files)
fixed some coordinate issues (not all though )
fixed the loading crashes and vis disable issues
looking a bit better now so there should be a new test version out in the next day or two to see if my changes are/aren't working (working on fixing the current code to be a stable base to work on initially)

DRO, wow great stuff, they should make you part of the Ainamp team.

Just a suggestion. Instead of making 50 differents plugin why not make a plugin pack with just one installer with the option to turn each plugin on and off.

This would be inconvient on up dating siggle plugins but it would just be easier to keep track of the good stuff you are doing.

Maybe the plugin pack could have an updater or something.

On last thing, I dont' know if you have addressed already but could the extend play list have the ability to drag and drop songs from the play list back into playlist in the media library. I think That would be nice.

Doh, I completely forgot the sidecar thing. Oh well, never was big into Winamp3 anyways, so I have no expectations. Any functionality will be a bonus

Not sure how the original worked, but would it be possible to have the panes in 'drawers'?

it's doubtful about the drawers thing. i don't think plugins have any access to that sort of thing - drawers are skin related i think.

How much interoperability between the Media Library and Playlist will be possible? Or would the Extended PL make the ML completely obsolete? If I could have the ML menu in my playlist, I don't know if I would even use the media library anymore.

[EDIT: Wow, you're quick. What about generating a skinned window that contains the Extended PL object and which could have drawers in it?]

to be honest i don't know at the moment how much can be taken from the ml or not. as it stands i think i can 'fake' some of the existing actions to get some of the features implemented (still needs a lot of research on that though). main aim is to get a stable base to work from and then the extras can come from there.

with the object thing, i don't think the modern skin supports that sort of thing (though i may be wrong)

What I meant by object (sorry, not up on the Winamp skinning jargon, they're actually called components) is something like this:
From Winamp Modern, pledit-normal.xml
Quote:
<component
x="6"
y="6"
w="-12"
relatw="1"
h="-65"
relath="1"
noshowcmdbar="1"
autoopen="1"
autoclose="0"
param="guid:{45F3F7C1-A6F3-4ee6-A15E-125E92FC3F8D}"
/>
Could you create one of those components with the Extended playlist in it, and then just insert it into the playlist xml?

*cringes at the reply he knows is coming*

FWIW, the entire wa3/wasabi.player pledit.wac source is in the latest SDKs.

Well DrO. I cant wait until I can get the sidecar going in version five. Sadly, the only thing other than freeform skins that I like about three was the sidecar. Well, I guess thats why five is here.

well i've spent a few more hours on this one today and it looks like preview 3 will go out late tomorrow (uk time that is )

hopefully this is more stable than the last two previews
fixes the vis disable issue
list display code should work in all cases now (WHEREamI's bugs back on page2/3)
list font is correctly restored now on loading
partially working sidecar area (woot - you will see!)
basic support to match my playlist to winamp's playlist contents (note *very* slow at the moment)
sizebar now holds it's position correctly in all cases (sloppy coding on my part that )
cacheing of file playtimes to speed up list display once loaded
code stability does seem to be up on the last two previews and there will be some more fixes/additions to the code for tomorrow (just a few niggly ones to get sorted now - placement issues, etc)
