I want to take a snippet of 2 songs and put them together (mix??). I want to do this with several snippets (10ish), and want fade in and out and volume control. Thats IT!

If you know of one, post it regardless.

The hardware approach would be to use some flavor of a deck with a sampler and a mixer.

Cakewalk, Soundforge, and Ableton would be good for this as well and are software ends, similar to protools.

You could also get this done with DJ software, with or without the midi controller, and use something like Traktor, Torq, or Virtual DJ.

I appreciate your helping me out everyone. I was very sure there would be something available for me that I just needed the right search term or word for..... so far I'd struck out.

Sure, yes, a tool to use would be fantastic, and I'll be sure to check out protools - thanks watadoo.

Fcuk, i'm focused on a software solution, and a simple one - I'm just out of time on this and can't get do this with a learning curve more than 15 minutes . I've played with soundforge and will fire it up to see what it can do for me - thanks boss.

If your curious to know what I'm doing, I have bought a domain and got a web host just a couple days ago, and I want to put up a couple pages with some flash "movies", NOTHING special about them, just some text rolling around and maybe some pictures here and there. This is for the woman I'm now crazy about... music has been huge to us and our relationship. It's a unique relationship (isn't everyone's?!?).

I'm not publishing the site name yet till it's done (again, just a couple pages here).

you guessed it, it's a christmas suprise, hence the rush (give me a break, i gave this thought for a couple months before, finally, the damn bulb went on :P ).

Thanks much all of you, and anyone else having helpful words, don't be shy.
