Can you embed a shoutcast stream in html?

I'm making a website for a client who wants an internet radio station, so I think shoutcast would e an ideal solution, but I dont really want the listeners to have to have winamp or whatever to listen to the stream.

Is it possible to embed a shoutcast stream in a HTML page?

lol if the user dosent have quicktime then quicktime box will appear and ask the user to DL it. I like Quicktime because its add free and hassle free unlike real audio player. Also to you can actually "imbed" the objects into the page, where as a javascript, like free audio launches another window. You will notice that if you dont have freeaudio istalled you get a prompt asking you to approve installation etc. so basically your users are going to have to download something to listen to the stream. I think most of us have quicktime, maybe im wrong.. I dunno but id say quicktime is pretty solid, and if you are worried about people not wanting to dl a plugin for security reasons, then quicktime is the way to go, It's an Apple product and its an established, respected name.

What are you using for web publishing?

hey. if you want to give people a choice of there player just add other player objects like realmedia/ winmedia etc...
Set Attributes:
Autoplay to False
Cnotroller to True

this will embed the controls onto the page so the user can select them to active the stream. You must set autoplay to false if you are placing multiple player objects or it will lock up the users pc,

Very nice code generation.. But those of us who use products like go live/dreamwever find cut and copy code dosent always work out well.
Both of these products offer drag and drop media smart objects.

Works good for me, but what about people who don't have REAL Player?

Is there away to also get Windows Media Player and offcourse Winamp?

You can create an embedded WMP here. To stream your server through WMP, you will need to creat a .asx file. Here's how:
Quote:
For the .asx (WMP).. put the following in a notepad document and then save it as <whatever>.asx

code:
<asx version="3.0">
<title>TITLE</title>
<entry>
<title>TITLE</title>
<author>AUTHOR</author>
<ref href="http://yourIP:yourPORT/"/>
</entry>
</asx>

Of course, change things to fit your needs.
Simply upload that and link the embedded WMP player with the .asx file.
-----
I don't believe that there's a way to embed WinAmp currently.

Donnie-D: I don't know java script.. you could always make a new HTML page and link to it with a 'target="_blank"' stuck in there. That's what I've done, at least.

SkaFreak: It appears that all the people did in the link that you posted above was slap the code for an embedded RealPlayer in there and hit go. So, all you need to do is generate an embedded RealPlayer code here and paste it wherever you need it to be. You should be good to go.
