How did 499 become uglier than 488?

When after 488 was the skin changed?

And what's with the CDROM E in the Loaded Playlists? Does anyone still use plastic disks? And how do I get rid of it?

488 looks great and works great. The only problem is that it crashes sometimes on win5.1 at least. Can the new build stop crashing and stop using the new skin?

Thanks

take the cdrom out of your E drive, and it will go away.

488 was Winamp3's 1.0 release. It's very buggy. 499c is the last build to use the same skin (modified to say wasabi.player instead of winamp3 though).

499c has more changes in the skin than simply the name.
It's the first version with some elements changed to vectors.
499 is the last version with the old skin.
And 499's skin is NOT the same as 488, Steve continued to update it some even after 488.

Hm.. Will the next release loadup wasabi.exe in the playlist and we be asked to delete wasabi.exe from the HDD?

It's a work in progress (hopefully still), and isn't supposed to really look good or for that matter be all that usable. They were half way through adding in the ability to construct the interface using scalable vectors and as a result it might look a bit crappy or broken in places.

As I understand it (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) the recent wasabi.player builds that were released were only really to show people that progress was still being made and weren't intended to be all that usable.

you're not wrong..
499f (I think it was) was actually just released so Brennan could brag a bit about his new titlebar (it does rock tho)
499g was thrown together the same day he got laid off by AOL, just so he could get the latest shit out before having to leave I guess..
Although thrown together in a hurry, wasabi.player 499g works really well, but the 499g SDK had some issues (not surprisingly), tho those have been solved now in SDK 499g8..

So yea, it's very much a work in progress, nothing is finished..
And so you know, I'm one of the people who is changing the skin to be built using vectors..

Also, the original Winamp3 skin can still be loaded. Well, once we make per-skin auto theme setting work.

Video playback doesn't work too well on winamp3's skin... try playing a video file anfter one another and you'll get a video that audio only plays and the video does NOT pop-up... quite odd, but I hope this is fixed...

thanks

dude, don't crosspost, and stop hijacking every thread you see with this issue.
You have my answer in the "I told you it would be back" thread.

no worries..
Everyone are allowed to make a mistake, especially if you're new to this.

Just some small pointers to help you in the future:
- If you want help with something, try to post in the appropriate forum and then if there isn't any thread in that forum that's related to your question, start a new thread.

- Always search the forums before you post questions, incase the question has been asked and answered before.

- Never crosspost (posting the same thing in several threads)

- Check the sticky's at the top of every forum, for FAQ's, important messages, etc...

Hope that helps.
