'89 tercel concerns...

I've searched, probably not that well but I'm going to search a bit more in a minute. But I thought I would ask here.

I've got a '89 Toyota Tercel 1.5L 4 Cylinder, the thing had been sitting since '95 we had a few problems getting it running. For instance, all four spark plugs would spark when out of the engine but not under pressure. Just replaced them and the car fired up nice. I've been running it around here and there but now its having a problem when starting. When I start the car it gives off this blue smoke from the engine.

I checked the oil, its fine. I have yet to replace the oil filter, fuel filter, and to drain the radiator and re-fill it. But I don't know a lot about cars so I'm hoping to get some input before I go crazy on it.

Blue smoke indicates you're burning oil. Keep an eye on the oil level. You will also likely need to change out your spark plugs more often due to the fouling from burning the oil.

It's probably the PCV valve. A ten minute $20 fix. They usually get clogged up in high mileage motors or when you don't change the oil enough. I've seen a couple of Yo's with the problem and boy do they smoke like an SOB. You'd think the motor was done.

Google should tell you everything you need to know about finding it and changing it out. Probably won't need anything but a pair of pliers.
