Horseshoes and hand grenades

Close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades right?

There have been a couple of times that a close call has changed my life. Recently, I was walking home from work and some crazy driver rounded the corner and came within inches of me. Needless to say I was scared to death. It really made me think. How would me life be different if I were to be crippled or what the lives of those I loved would be like if I had died. I started to think of all the times that I was careless to a friend or thoughtless to a loved one. After the initial shock went away I was filled with a deep desire to show everyone I loved just exactly how much.

So I was sitting here wondering how a close call might have changed other peoples lives. Even if it wasn't a life threatning experience...

generally close calls don't really affect me too much, I usually need to get knocked over the head for me to change my behavior.

I am very stubborn, even though I don't really mean to be. It takes a helluva a lot to change my actions, and close calls rarely make me rethink something.

sounds like something similar that happened to me... I almost hit the dude with my car...

I don't think close calls have hit close enough to home for me to start worring.

Happens at least once a month, cycling to college. I don't even wear a helmet.

When I was 16, I hit a 65 year-old-lady in a crosswalk with my truck. I sprained her ankle. My insurance paid out the butt for that one.
But, that's been my only accident and ticket (failure to yeild) in 4 years of driving.

^Well, even if it's been close a couple of times I'm not quite dead yet and hopefully I won't snuff it in many years.

(is that python enough?)

I'm around(ish). I haven't been reading new threads very much recently, and for the past 6 days, I've been on a trip. So now you know.

In high school some moron hit a friend of mine as he was walking, he didn't even bother to stop.
Had near misses with cars several times and once by a truck. On a side note, I have had a car run over my foot on three occasions.

I am so important I feel the need to let it be known like a liberal discovering the internets for the first time. Uh hur hur hur. I also wash myself with a rag on a stick.

Oh yeah. That trip got me high, we're talking 1463 meters, baby. All that white powder... I couldn't get enough. Seriously.
