Installer to Small

I have Windows 98, I am using AOL 5 and I downloaded WinAmp and got the error message "Installer to small". I saw on one of the other problems the suggestion to download Copernic 2000 or something like that. I downloaded that and got the error message "Corrupt Installer". What does that mean? I ran the Windows Scandisk and everything is ok. Help, Help, Help. Thank you, AthenaKahli

Installer to small #2

Thank you for the help guys, but I am still getting the error message. I deleted the WinAmp and Sonique programs, gave the computer a break, went onto TuCows and downloaded again. Still got the error message. Do I have to start deleting files to get more memory? That doesn't seem right, my C drive is still showing over 3GB. One other point, may be silly, but I also have RealPlayer downloaded. Is there any possibility that there is "Competition" between the two items, are they "fighting" one another? How can I tell if I have been hit with a virus? What else can I do to fix the problem? Thank you again for your help. AthenaKahli

Did you read those links above?
I think I edited them after sawg's initial reply, and I added a direct link to the "installer too small" problem with AOL.
Also, no, don't use a 3rd-party download manager to download NSIS installers with. Stick to the default Windows download manager in Internet Explorer, as explained in the above links.

Hey guys!! Just when you thought it was safe!! I tried to download AVG Virus scan and guess what???? Couldn't open that either. I did a file check and was told that user.exe was corrupt. Does anyone know what that is? How do I fix it, please? I will get nothing opened anywhere I guess until that is fixed first. I really appreciate all the help. Thank you. AthenaKahli

Installer Too Small

Thank you all for your help. However for anyone having trouble I found that one answer(which I understood) was to download 2.79 standard and not "full" it downloaded and no bad messages. I am happy with that.

Thanks again
