Crackle / clipping in playback, right channel only

Clean WinAmp install. No plugins.

Playing back MP3 files I get what sounds like crackle or clipping but only in the right channel.

WMA, WAV and any other audio format plays back clean and beautiful.

MP3 files play clean and beautiful in any other media player I use, but I love WinAmp!

I've gone through the stickies and searched for clipping, distortion, and crackle and I've seen the FAQ about the problem. I tried the device and hardware and buffer suggestions but MP3 files continue to sound pretty bad.

I am on a HP NX9420 laptop
SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio

Anything else I play on this laptop sounds awesome! I use it to record DV with Adobe OnLocation and the audio records and plays back clean and beautiful but any MP3 I play with WinAmp has the crackle in the right channel!

Its possible I can record the distorted audio and email a sample if needed.

Thanks for any help I can get!

sounds like a issue with the sound card
hopefully the easiest fix maybe to install ffdshow http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/download.php i recommend the icl10 if you want latest codecs with some extra features
if this doesnt work i dont know what will

thanks rob
