I can't believe my eyes! Our virus friend actually gave both the winter skins a good rating.

I don't have anything to say besides what I said in the results thread. But the cursors are still broken!

Nice job otherwise.

Crashes a lot

I tried viewing your skin, but it crashes. The crashes so bad I had to reboot my computer three times. I think it may have something to do with your cursors. Your skin loads fine in winamp, I can see. It's only when I roll my mouse over it, does winamp crash and then freezes my computer.

I've never had this much trouble from a skin and I've downloaded plenty of skins with custom cursors. Anyways, I removed all the cursors from the zip and it doesn't cause any grief to my computer.

And you left a tiny psp browse file inside. (Me guessing you have Paint Shop 6 ^-^). I thought I let you know about the crashes.

It's still a nice skin. I like the thermometer for bars. Very clever.

The skin is also within a folder in the zip file, c'mon Simon, you were the one to point this out for people zipping up WA3 skins incorrectly in this fashion

For those of you with cursor problems, have you checked and updated your video card drivers at all?, haven't been able to reproduce this fault/crash myself accross 3 laptops at home and 2 desktops here at work

Mr Jones... I doesn't crash on XP so it's prolly just a 95/98/ME problem. Silly wrong sized cursors.

Tried it on 2 98 laptops last night, one XP laptop and two 2k desktops today.

If anyone is having this problem I suggest you try deleting one cursor at a time from the zip archive and see if you still get the problem, this might help simon nail down which cursor is causing the problems, course, if it's all of them that's just tuff

I think I know the ones; normal.cur & Titlebar.cur
I used a bigger canvas for the cursors that are used one the mikro, cause it fubared on me showing them twice their actual size but when i used a bigger canvas it didn't

Cursors canvas

That was the cause of the crashes. You set the cursors at 16 x 16. It should be a 32 x 32. When I changed it, no more crashes.

Yeah, like hhkyl said, it's every cursor except normal and titlebar that is friX0red. There's no way to get aroung it, even with the latest drivers and stuff, cursors other than 32x32 don't work on a lot of systems.

cursors

So does that mean you're not going to change the canvas size on those cursors? Did you know that 16x16 cursors will be expanded to 32x32 size on older computers? Meaning they'll look warped, like someone trying put an image on a webpage and doubling the height and width img properties.

See, this is what it looks like when I do a screen capture in PSP. Which is strange, because it's nowhere near what it look like on the screen.

Then I was really bored and took a picture of what it looked like. It is quit blurry, but it'll give you at least some idea of how weird it is.

Congratulations Simon! I was hoping snowflake would be featured, since there were no real prizes in the Winter Skin Contest other than getting some face time with the featured skin guru. And thanks to wally or jones or whoever might have brought it to said gurus attention.
