I used to be a major coffee addict. For some reason, I cannot drink it any more. Still love the smell of it. Mornings, usually drink milke with cereal, or I will just grab an iced tea at work and have a breakfast bar.

In the mornings when I walk from the bus stop to my work, I have to walk by a coffee factory, where they roast the beans and stuff.
It's a really good brand and I love the smell

Now imagine how much it sucks that the coffee from the machine at my work tastes like liquid bunnyshit
I get the smell, but it's just a tease, morning after morning again.

I grind my own, and I usually pick coffee by chewing a couple beans.

Coffee consumption rapidly reduces background DNA strand breaks in healthy humans: Results of a short term repeated uptake intervention study.

Studies provide evidence that long-term coffee consumption correlates with reduced DNA background damage in healthy volunteers.
In a short-term human intervention study, we determined the effects of coffee intake on DNA integrity during 8 hours. Healthy male subjects ingested coffee in 200 ml aliquots every second hour up to a total volume of 800 ml.

Blood samples were taken at baseline, immediately before the first coffee intake and subsequently every two hours, prior to the respective coffee intake. DNA integrity was assayed by the comet assay. The results show a significant (p<0.05) reduction of background DNA strand breaks already 2 h after the first coffee intake. Continued coffee intake was associated with further decrements in background DNA damage

CONCLUSION: Longer. Better quality of life.

Repeated coffee consumption was associated with reduced background DNA strand breakage, clearly measurable as early as two hours after first intake resulting in a cumulative overall reduction by about one third of the baseline value.

I like my coffee like I like my women.
Not black and really creamy and sweet.

Sorry, I have to speak the truth.

Me too. About the coffee, that is. I'd also add "cheap" and "instant" to those criteria – the cheaper the better.

We still talking about coffee?

Started sipping my Grandma's when I was 5. 65 yrs ago. I drink at least 1 pot (of 8 O'clock original mostly) per day. Grandma's had a little kick to it. Found out later she liked a teaspoon of rum with her first cup.

Drinking more coffee may undo liver damage from booze

Researchers analyzed data from nine previously published studies with a total of more than 430,000 participants and found that drinking two additional cups of coffee a day was linked to a 44% lower risk of developing liver cirrhosis.

Compared to no coffee consumption, researchers estimated one cup a day was tied to a 22% lower risk of cirrhosis. With two cups, the risk dropped by 43%, while it declined 57% for three cups and 65% with four cups.

This thread makes me sad… I've cut back from 1L to 2 cups, or ~400 mL.

In light of web thing's post above, I think I might need to up my intake to ~10 L to protect my liver. Safety first...

Now we only need a study that shows how two additional cups of pure alcohol per day will cure the ill effects from drinking too much coffee.

It's quite easy to prove. Caffeine in coffee makes someone too awake, too nervous, and too "wired". Alcohol reduces or reverses all three, and will help you pass out if you can't sleep, not to say that you'll ever wake up again after drinking enough to reverse the effects of caffeine.

Of course. But even if something's blatantly obvious, we still need statistics or nobody will think it's true.

So perhaps I need to bring some jugs of coffee and moonshine to work tomorrow, along with a spreadsheet to record data.

Come on you two… your study is of poor design.

Ted, for proper design of experiment I require that you bring moonshine and coffee into work no less than 3 times. You must run the experiment exactly the same all times. This way if you have an inclusive test result, you are two more replicates to sort out your data.

To G2's point … I also request that you post your experimental design online along with your results and conclusions so that we can all tell you what you did wrong; even if we told you how to run the experiment.

Finally, if we still don't like the outcome of your study we'll just yell socialism, trump, or nazi thereby failing at any point that we are trying to make, but we will still justify our own riotousness in our own heads.

After all is said and done, we may ask you to repeat the exact same experiment again, thereby demonstrating that the true definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again, yet expecting a different result.

My .. my.. my … how y'all have slipped in my absence.

I've been away from these boards for too long
