How again is it not "RJ45"?
Because the RJ45 specification dictates the physical connector and wiring associated with it as being different from the 8P8C specification used in ethernet applications. RJ45 originally called for only four of the eight pins to be used, while 8P8C calls for all eight pins to be used.

Quote:
True telephone RJ45 connectors are a special variant of 8P2C, meaning only the middle 2 positions have conductors in them, while pins 7 and 8 are shorting a programming resistor. Computer "RJ45" is 8P8C -- all eight conductors are always present. Furthermore, true telephone RJ45 involves a "keyed" variety of the 8P body, which means it may have an extra tab that a computer "RJ45" connector is unable to mate with.

But I see what you're saying. They either need to change the specifications to reflect the widespread usage of the term "RJ45" or start labelling all the products and catalogs properly with "8P8C."

That's funny, I didn't know that you worked on networks. Every bag of '8P8C' connectors that I have ever used has been labeled as such. Most manufacturers do not actually call it RJ45.

Everyone doing it wrong does not make it correct.

Odd. Not on any I've ever seen. Maybe I need to look closer.

Aaaactually... that's exactly how language works. It's defined by use. Although I understand -- I dislike the abuse of the word "hacker".

Yup. And you'd have waaay more luck trying to get the spec changed than the language. It's really, really hard to intentionally change language, and takes about one generation.

That's funny, I like the nudity and dislike her recent songs.

She has shown virtually no vocal talent since she went hip hop/r&b - I don't even know if it's worthy of those labels - most of her current and recent songs have vocals with the tonal range of half an octave - singing most lines on one or two pitches; vocal dynamic range is maybe 5 decibles at most; and her songs have very little articulation difficulty. This is sad, because her older stuff was far more impressive and difficult; yet she used to make it sound easy. Even the lyrics are starting to sound lame and repetitive. I don't know if her ability died or if the market demands shit and she decided to sell it. Maybe both, I don't know, so if the music is going to suck, at least give us some nudity.

Mine all say RJ45.

Now, all of my store bought cables actually only use the 4 wires, so they really are the RJs (don't ask me how that happened).

All the ones I have done are 8P8C

Good question. I often see drivers attempting to do far too many things at once - many are trying to rock back and fourth to music, eat, drive and do something on a cell phone at once.

Others even try to drive and text message, something that takes a ton of eye time off the road; and it's one of the most stupid ways to spend time I can think of. Think about it; telegrams went out of style over half a century ago. Now they're back, without the Morse Code. Why not just fucking call the person? and talk in half the time and twice the detail, and without the insanely annoying abbreviations?

Or, why not just shut the fuck up and drive?

Oh yeah, and cage your fucking mutt before you turn the key, or at least let him/her sit in another seat with the head out the window, or throw him/her in the bed of your truck. If they jump out at 65 mph and die, they deserve the Darwin award of death, and you deserve a more intelligent pet that won't do that. None of my dogs ever jumped out of the truck.

If unsafe driving only hurt unsafe drivers, I'd say 'hell yeah, do it and die motherfucker'. But it hurts people that actually give a shit; people that do what it takes to get to point B alive. So preach on; hopefully someone that is an asshole without even knowing it will read these posts and think twice before wasting their life on something stupid like unexpected Fluffy piss that causes a car to go left of center into oncommig traffic.

Don't forget to live before you die.

40? That's pretty cheap considering last year before the USA state of Pennsylvania law was abolished, it cost $128 after fees. I'm really pissed about the law being cancelled - wrecks involving an active phone lines have severely increased. The law used to only let people talk on hands-free phone setups.

Of course that doesn't necessarily address the most dangerous parts - the dialing and the people that can't drive while gabbing. Some of the tech-geeks use voice recognitioin, but most are dialing instead of stopping at the red light. Some people when involved in a conversation lose the ability to keep focus on what they are doing with the incredibly fast and heavy collection of metal and flammable liquids.
