Broadcasting live with dj set and mic voiceovers

Hi guys,

I am looking to host my own dance radio show however I would like to clarify some setup details regarding voice overs with a mic and output.

My current setup consists of:
  • Apogee ONE
  • Rode Podcaster
  • Pioneer DJM800 mixer
  • Pioneer CDJ1000 mk3 x2
  • KRK RP6 monitor speakers
  • Pioneer amp/receiver powering wired JBL speakers

Connectivity is not the issue, it's more the voice overs.

I would like to achieve the "ducking" effect where the audio/music fades to a lower background level and my voice over becomes higher.

I have found the only way I can do this is if I turn down the level of speakers and monitor everything through my headphones.

The only problem with this is my audience and crowd at the venue will no longer be able to hear the dj mix.

If I don't turn the volume down I immediately get feedback.

Any ideas or feedback would be much appreciated

Many thanks
