WinAMP 5.0beta2 fails to recognize a new input plugin

I compiled the IN_TONE project from the C/C++ SDK, slightly modified (extension string set to "AY\0Caroline RockMonitor compiled module (*.AY, *.SND)\0" + internals of PlayThread replaced with a dummy + msvcrt.lib linked for further computation purposes). Then I put the release DLL into the /plugins directory. WinAMP did not recognize the new plug-in (no new entries in the Plugins list or in the File Extensions table appeared).

What might have been wrong? Should I register the DLL somehow? Should I get rid of MSVCRT library?

so you are aware, the current version (hopefully in the next few hours on the main site) is 5.03.

as for your problem, have you tried the dll without any modifications first? restarted winamp after copying the file?

also you could dependency walker which will allow you see if the export that winamp looks for when trying to load a plugin is present "winampGetInModule2". as well there shouldn't be any problem with linking to msvcrt.lib (though personally i avoid linking to any crt to keep plugin sizes down)
