Hi DJ Egg,
The "Recently Added" view is still using the "File Time" data instead of the "Date Added" data, so files I recently modified were listed. After replacing "File Time" with "Date Added" the listing was correct, only showing files that were recently added. Is "File Time" now the same as "Date Modified"? Hey Aminifu
Hmm, I'm not sure, tbh. I'll have to check... or maybe DrO can clarify...? I think there's a difference between behaviour on clean installs and upgrades. On clean installs, Recently Added should be using Date Added. But on upgrades, it will probably still be using whatever it was using before, eg. Last Updated. Date Added should be the date/time the file was added to the ML. File Time should be the system creation date/time of the file? (tbc) Last Updated should be the time the file was last modified (eg. when metadata was last edited, etc). Though yeah, on further inspection, File Time does seem to correspond with Windows' Date Modified.... |

I performed an upgrade, so that is probably the reason. Thanx for the quick response.
And for those who don't know, the time period in the view is set for the last 30 days. However, the date filter (file time, date added, or whatever) and the time period can be easily changed. Windows 11 Home 64-bit v22H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

In some cases, changes to the library won't get written back to disk, usually when you uncheck the box at the bottom of the Ctrl+E dialog in the Media Library. But also for filetypes that don't support metadata editing (e.g. MOD/S3M).
File Time should be the same as the "last modified" time for the file in the file system. I will followup on Egg's observation that it doesn't seem to be the case. Date Modified is the last time the entry was modified in the database. Actions like changing playcount or rating do not modify Date Modified Date Added I'll also investigate the default rules for the Recently Added view. However, I'm fairly sure we don't modify any existing views (just change the default rules for fresh installs), which might explain why it's still using File Time for you. edit: I should read Egg's reply before replying myself as I've basically just repeated everything he said. I blame lack of sleep |

Edit: After reading Benski's post, I'm confused. It seems Last Updated may or may not track Window's Date Modified. If Winamp's tag editor is used, then it would. If a 3rd party tagger is used, it would not if the affected files are not rescanned. Windows 11 Home 64-bit v22H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

When a file is added to the library, or a metadata update to the file is made or detected, the "Last Updated" field is set to the current time.
If you edited the metadata from within Winamp, these two times will be nearly the same, as the database change will get picked up almost immediately. If you edited the metadata of an MP3 yesterday using an external tool, and today you opened Winamp and started a rescan of the media library, the "Last Updated" time would show as today and "File Time" would show as yesterday. |

Ok, so there is nothing that tracks the file's system creation date & time. Correct?

the view (if it exactly matched what was used for 'Recently Added' before) should have been swapped to use the date added param. but it was still possible that it wouldn't have been changed. none of the other value handling should have seen any changes with what was being done previously, the only thing is that it's probably stemming from the rating changes and that we're better reporting changes happening on files. so if it wasn't working as expected, then this is most likely how things already were (though anything is possible with Winamp). |

Am I crazy or does 5.7 feel faster again? Excellent job!
![]() I'm going to suggest this again real quick since the topic is on the ML query language fields: Hasalbumart would be an amazing addition so that Simple Album preset set to grid view could filter out those with no album cover art. And it would be great if the Tracks field corresponded to the number of tracks from the album actually in the library, like it is in the columns of Simple Album (a new Tracksinlibrary field would work too!). Other, more robust ideas for the query language can be found in the link in my sig. ![]() Cheers for the ongoing development gentlemen! Request: A little SmartView Query Language love. |

i've had some time to play around with this, some impressions:
no spam in the installer! ![]() one 4 nunz is automatically removed. some mention of this should be made in the version history imo. if i manually put it back, will it not work? i see JTFE remains ![]() great ratings changes! big THANKS for fixing the POPM and adding the %rate% atom! ![]() safe mode is another great new feature! been batting that one around a long time. ![]() some questions: is pmp_activesync.dll a nullsoft plugin? it does not say so. is it the cloud plugin? will it always say "NOT LOADED" when its not running? i'm confused by the "Recently Added" view. when i click on it, it shows nothing. when i edit the view it says this: dateadded > [3 days ago] which, to me, reads that it should be showing, for some reason, everything added MORE THAN 3 days ago. but it doesn't, it shows nothing. and should it be everything added LESS THAN three days ago? in addition, why do it like that at all? why not just have the view put everything in the ML in "date added" order, with the most recent first? and i thought there was going to be a "recently modified" view as well, based on the files last modified date? the date added column is also not woking properly. as i understand it, the date added column value is not supposed to be something that a user can change via tag edits or rating or what not. the value is simply supposed to reflect when the filename first appeared in that location, and thats it, period. however, the first file listed in my sorted date added column is a file i've had for years, and yet just recently made a small edit to the song title of. no change to the filename or folder location was made. the second song listed is the same way. so, something is amiss. in any case, this is a FANTASTIC release, and i'm really looking forward to all it can do, including the cloud, the artwork for streams in app, the source art, etc... GREAT work! ![]() EDIT: i forgot to mention, that the cloud seemed to add me via FB without the need for any email from you all. also, i'd like to +1 this: in my usage, i'd setup a smartview to show only those albums/songs/files WITHOUT art, so i could work on them (meaning those i wanted to add art to) as a group without having to look for missing ones, which is hard to do with 65k+ files! anything added from now on will be correct. anything imported gets a best guess applied as again, there is no way of knowing when a file was added to the library (and setting everything to the first time this update is run did not seem correct). that's not correct. it will be fixed. |

Very small bug:
When you click the button to restart in safe mode, if you have another window going that can potentially obscure the dialog referring to safe mode, Winamp doesn't bring the confirmation dialog to the front. I waited about 20 seconds before investigating why it wasn't doing anything when I saw that the dialog was open and showing but was behind my browser (which was maximized at the time.) Windows XP Home SP3 all updates. [EDIT/] Otherwise, I didn't see any other problems with safe mode although it was just a preliminary test. |

well, i just got back and tried to start winamp.
"winamp stopped working" the only plugin i have besides those coming with the installer is the SC dsp. when i rename the extension, winamp still crashes. this is not good. EDIT: i don't know if this matters, but the last thing i had done was put the columns: File Time, Last Updated, Date Added in the ML tracks pane in that order from the start of the leftside (in a top 2 pane, albumartist / album-art-icon-small view), with the arrow facing down on "Last Updated" maybe thats crashing it? any help? EDIT 2: i think i'm onto something... i renamed the gen_ml.dll and now winamp starts. i just don't have the ML tab. i can play music and otherwise winamp is fine. perhaps another bug though: when i clicked the "visualization" tab, the whole screen went black and the resolution seemingly changed, and i had to hit "esc" to get back to a normal screen. (i also put the SC dsp back with gen_ml disabled and winamp still worked) EDIT 3: ok, i am def making progress. i opened up the gen_ml.ini file in the roaming dir, and noticed it had a new section, "ML Cloud" in it. when i cut it out completely, restarted winamp, SUCCESS! i was now back in business. all the views worked. i clicked on the cloud, and it started rescanning my collection again, only this time it did a second, slower phase. when i exited winamp, and restarted winamp, CRASH! so it would seem cloud services are causing these crashes. and i'm still seemingly getting in and out of the cloud service with no email from you all. if i rename the cloud dll, i can start/stop winamp as much as i want. so i think it has to do with the values for the cloud info in gen_ml.ini, and the way it tries to start and stop from whatever point it left off at. MrSinatra: you are correct about the settings but wrong about the dll causing it and it was fixed internally ~6hrs before you noticed, though i'm pretty certain you shouldn't be seeing any of the cloud aspects at the moment (which is also part of the reason it's crashing for you).

Winamp doesn't seem to remember the recently selected tree item in ML.
I have a playlist called "Alles" ("All" in German) where I have everything I currently listen to. Usually, this is selected in ML. So I open Winamp (shuffle is always on), then I just have to double click the selected Playlist. In 5.7, when I open Winamp, it always selects the topmost item in the tree, which is "Lesezeichen" (Bookmarks)... The bug with destroying m4a files when editing the tags after clearing the playlist, but still playing the file, is FIXED now - perfect, thanks! It also reliably works now for MP3. New tag is correctly written, and file keeps playing, and title is updated in the scroller, but playlist remains empty if it has been cleared manually before. ![]() ![]() ![]() Best regards, kzuse [EDIT: Fixed typos... thanks!] Last edited by kzuse; 10th March 2013 at 12:47. |

A few things
1. Very disappointed no updates amendments to podcast system, Needs refreshed, and didn't see anything that shows fixed bug of disappearing list of podcast subscriptions. Hope I'm wrong. 2. see attached, says there's a not loaded DLL. Why is this? or what have i done wrong? 3. Cloud services needs Facebook login. I don't have one or want one, any other way to use the services? Like dropbox? 4. new update has amended/auto tagged a number of my singles. How do I remove this? |

kzuse: with the view select on loading, one of the beta testers saw a similar thing but hasn't been the time to try to replicate / fix it.
joebloggscity: #1 - there is changes to the podcast handling, but most of it is covered by the 'misc' changes. it will make a backup of the files on saving, only saves the files used _when_ needed which should improve reliability and a number of other under the hood things. a complete re-vamp of something that i was fixing in my own time is not going to have happened. #2 - was covered a few posts up. if you don't have an active sync device then the plug-on won't load and it relates to the safe mode changes so you now see _what_ hasn't been able to be loaded. if it worries you, delete the plug-in and make sure to un-check it in the installer so it won't come back in future. #3 - there will be additional sign-in methods coming later. #4 - there were _no_ auto-tagging changes in this build so files should not have been altered in any way. you'd need to provide more details to ensure it's not just the library values which have been updated (as there was a library re-build as part of the install). |

because it's beta and it's in a limited form at the moment. as i've said above, other sign-in methods will follow i am just the messenger (as i realise a lot of people - myself included - are not keen on using facebook login but this is what the beta product is currently using).

[Edit] I'm too slow today. DrO already replied to most of these. Sorry for the repeats [/Edit]
@ksuze Are there a couple of typos in this statement? "The bug with destroying m4a files then editing the tags after clearing the playlist, but still playing the file, is FIXED not - perfect, thanks!" Should it say this instead? "The bug with destroying m4a files when editing the tags after clearing the playlist, but still playing the file, is FIXED now - perfect, thanks!" Re: "Winamp doesn't seem to remember the recently selected tree item in ML" Are you using a lang pack? Does it also happen with English? Are there any non-default plugins present? @joebloggscity 1. There's a a couple of ml_wire (podcasts) entries in the changelog. You should also see feeds.xml.backup & rss.xml.backup files in %appdata%\winamp\plugins\ml 2. The ActiveSync plugin will only load if MS ActiveSync is installed and an ActiveSync/Windows-Mobile device is attached. 3. From 1st post: Winamp Cloud FAQ More auth logins are coming soon (Google, AOL/Winamp, etc). But for now, it's Facebook or nothing. Sorry. 4. Winamp doesn't do that. @MrSinatra Re: "also, add "New: ability to specify user's email address to id3 POPM ratings" to the version history. (or "Improved")" Hmm, nah. That's more of a power user thing. We'd much prefer if people continued using the winamp.com one ;-) @MrX_1980 Thanks for reporting the NSV problem ---------------------- And remember folks.... it's a BETA! :-) |

Thx for the fast responses. Really appreciate, and apologies if I missed anything in my questions.
as for no.4, let's see if it happens to others, it's strange as lots of my singles got retagged with track numbers, which was wierd. only happened after new update. I'll see if such happens again and i'll get back to you all. thx for the work done on winamp, and I hope work can be done on winamp podcasts in future to spruce it all up. |

most likely it's sending utf-8 and we're not expecting that for what seems to be being treated as a SHOUTcast steam (even though it's not a SHOUTcast server). that would explain the weirdness in characters.

![]() ![]() Regarding the ML not remembering the view: I spent some more time investigating this. What happens is the following: I am using classic skin only. When selecting some playlist in the ML tree, then CLOSING the ML window and exiting Winamp, and then again starting Winamp and then OPENING the ML window again, "Bookmarks" will be selected. When selecting some playlist in the ML tree, leaving the ML window OPEN when closing Winamp, and then again starting Winamp, it will come up with the ML windows STILL OPEN and STILL selected the correct playlist in the tree!! I usually close the ML window when I don't need it, so this behaviour would be a bug/regression to me. No 3rd party plugins, and it also happens with English language (tested both). ------------ I have another question: What is "nxlite.dll" for, which has been added to Winamps Program directory? I don't have installed Cloud Beta or anything new I hadn't checked in the installer in previous versions... Thanks & Best regards! |

your closing the window matches with what the reported as causing the issue (as referenced in my earlier reply) so seems like it's consistent. will hopefully be fixed before the next build.
nxlite.dll is a common dll being used between some of the plug-ins. i strongly advise against doing anything with it, especially removing it otherwise your Winamp will not work correctly / at all. |

No, I wouldn't delete it. Just wanted to know what it's for.

the view selection issue is irrespective of the cloud support, it just coincided with the support appearing in internal builds.

In Modern Skin it's really hard to reproduce, but as DrO already mentioned, it is quite reproducable in Classic Skin when you close the whole ML before quitting Winamp, as I usually do (as mentioned before).
