Sweet skin, guys!
One question, though: It's easy to convert the computer to dialing mode, but how do you convert the DHD to dialing mode?

The world is made of conflicts: good and evil, order and chaos, light and dark, hot and cold. All are essential to life. None can prevail for any length of time, or life will fail. In the end, the best any can hope for is balance.

if you move your mousecursor down to the left side of the 'leg' of the DHD, there will appear some crystals. Use them for switching between stuff.

Well the thread has been active for 1,5 years aswell
Another impressive figure. Don't think may stay on top that long. Usually the project gets shelved by then or is released

And so I added another useless post

Some ontopic stuff aswell

Few more hidden addresses found.

And one more bug (I think).
I shutdown winamp with the "power"-button in dcs mode while the wormhole vis was running with desktopalpha on.
Wenn I restarted winamp the wormhole was gone with I had to push the gvis button twice to get it back running (as if I first had to stop it and then turn it back on).

edit: I think I played around with it to much. My timer is dead :s Doesn't update/count automaticly anymore,no matter what mode (If i switch from "played" to "still to play" it gives updated times).
And the chevron-lock don't light up anymore aswell.
The seeker on the other hand still works .

okay.. that is a problem..
however, I've just tried myself and it works for me.
Could you try and repeat it a couple of times and see if it was a one-time thing or not?
And perhaps someone else can test it aswell..?

edit:
it sounds like you perhaps have broken it..
you have to be gentle, it's fragile..
try and delete/rename studio.xnf and see what happens..

hehe I think I broke it yes
What did you expect give a kid a toy he's been wanting for a long time and he's gonna be rough with it

I realy broke it there. After a studio.xnf delete the timer still doesn't work. But the chevron-lock lights do

This may be the wrong place to ask this, but is it possible to get some kind of explanation of the reviews this skin is getting? The two most recent reviews seriously read more like sabatoge than anything, in that they say nothing, and give a bad rating, as though they want to give the skin a bad rep for no reason. Sure, some things have been pointed out in this thread, but nothing of the sort that would get such bad ratings.

Like I said though, this is probably the wrong place to be asking this, since the people giving ratings like that almost certainly aren't going to read this thread... Anyway, I think it's just people being idiots... Is that just me? Mouser X out.

Well will look into it a little deeper later today when I'm back at home (does it happen on other skins, what if I redownload it and stuff like that).

There's always people that won't like the skin. And people that'll just download it don't like the looks of it than trow it away withou looking at all the features and stuff that has been put in. And then do a "review" of it.
Personally I think that reviews without comments or explanation show be deleted, good or bad.

*shrug* you seem to get a few of those Regardless of the skin, even MMD3 has a few of those. Not much one can do about it.

Just means more people have to review it

The explanation is not everyones taste is the same, what you might consider to be the best thing since sliced bread is a steaming pile of poop to someone else.

That someone else might think they also have the best thing since sliced bread, but to you that might also be a steaming pile of poop

Peoples opinions are just that, you can't force people to say nice things all the time, especially if they really don't like it.

I think this skin is techincally very very good indeed, artistically it's equally as good, but I'd never use it as it gags my PC and I have no interest in stargate as a whole, to me it's that program they show before enterprise on a Sunday that I always see the last five minutes of.

So it's good, but for me a skin I'd never use beyond the point where I downloaded it to try it and see what all the fuss was about.

I agree with Jones..
I actually never expected this skin to get such high rating in the first place, just because it's such a niche skin.
It's not userfriendly, it's very big (both in size and dimensions), very resource hungry, has a very specific look and feel that most certainly will not appeal to everyone, and so on..

But sure, I'm rather pissed at those who give crap 'reviews' without explaining why, but there's nothing one can do about it.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

Well I replicated the freezing timer thing and the wormhole vis not being restored properly, along with the chevron-lock lights not working(that is until I spin the gate then the lights work again :s)

The only thing I did is close winamp while playing and then start it again. In dcs mode with the monitor power-button thing
and in gdo mode with a right click exit

edit: dta is on to have a nice seethrough wormhole

I was wondering why, when you dial certain addresses, you get static when you send a malp? I'm sure there's a good reason, I was just wondering if I could get a general idea (couldn't find pictures of the places, or it got sucked into a black hole?)

you use the "quick link" right aover the report/ip logged links

And heres a little secret. we did not add a "locked out" thing as that would require two seperate databases, one for the dhd, one for the dcs, as the dhd would not lock out addresses like the SGC does. (this is a assumption based on that teams have dialed locked out planets from offworld).

we discussed it, but in practicality it just increased the size for little practical benifit.

we did have locked out planets at a time, but since we made the simulator as realistic as possible, the gate would not lock on to those destinations, making them useless to have anyways.
So a decision was made to keep them dialable, but have the info say [LOCKED]..

as far as a tooltip with synopsis goes..
do you have _any_ idea how much work that would be?
We have about a hundred dialable addresses in our database, so it's simply not worth it..

Hey.. Random thought.

Stargate Winamp is still not the longest running development of a skin to date.

That honor must be bestowed to FrisbeeMonkey's Soundwave Skin.. least 5 years and still no release date in site

Finnally got around to it

Winamp 5.13 full, all standard plugins + toaster plugin
Haven't really changed a lot of preferences, a few extre global hotkeys, different skin folder, desktop alpha on and of course not to forget, custom ml default directorys and views.

edit: Uninstalled toaster seeing I don't use it anymore but nothing changed.

On the other hand found out that it's really only whenn starting winamp that the problem occurs. If I load it, the immediatly load another skin (without touching anything), then switch back to stargate skin everyting(chevron-lock lights, seeker, timer, wormhole vis) works again.

*L* no.. they diff ppl... You just need to talk to either for awhile over IM. personalities are way to different. nah.. Frisbee lurks occassionally now.. but his latest Job these days has him away from home like 80% of the time.

Ice: Okay.. System specs? Windows version etc. Any and anything you have installed that might of altered things.

I only ask cuz I tested the final on 3 different versions of windows & 2 Linux's versions without errors.

Icegod:
aight, I'll put it on the possible buglist, and have a look at how stuff works during startup.. Maybe there's something odd there.. However, since it only happens when Winamp first starts, it's probably a local problem for you, or that particular Winamp version..
But I'll do what I can anyways..

I'm going to try a new installation, an installation in a different folder that is. Don't really want to lose all my ml stuff(play count, custom views and such) again

Windows version is XP SP2.

edit: Ok I found the problem . After the reinstall I went about every step trying it out.
It seems the time restore from Dro is doing this.
Although I think I'm using an old version. Will check on updated version. And if the problem persists try to find a solution/work around (other then disabling it )

If been using it for so long I didn't even remember it wasn't distributed with winamp

Well I'll go and post a reply in the time restore and autoplay thread, although it's weird it only happens to this skin :s

it might be because this skin uses a longtimer, with [hh:mm:ss], while just about every other skin uses a normal timer with just [mm:ss].
But even if it is because of that, it's still an error in the plugin, not the skin.

it's not certain it's the timer, but it may be.. I haven't personally even tried the plugin from DrO, so I honestly have no idea what it does, but since it's name implies it's got something to do with time, I made a guess that it may be the long timer that is affected by the bug.
