Featured Skins.

Quote:
I'll leave these up for 2 weeks, and will be taking nominations afterwards for featured skins, I'll be looking for one modern and one classic skin per week.
The floor is now open for nominations.

I nominate myself.
What? Not allowed?
Here's a nice one. Simple but ... clean.

I could put that one as a featured skin, but there is a bit of danger. If the copyright owner of the images complains, the whole skin might have to be deleted.

Talk it over, decide.

hhmm, good point. I am not sure. We always discussed this topic but have there ever been a real case where people told winamp.com to delete a skin because of copywrited images?

No, not to my knowledge, but than Nullsoft always avoided the issue by not featuring these skins.

I've always liked this one.

However, the previews never show like they should:

There's a sponsored skin featured all the time.

Otherwise, either of boosterdesigns skins would be nice.

None of the classic skins comes to mind as of now.

Just because it has low stars doesn't mean it isn't good.
I nominated that one. Just thought it was a nice example of a "minimal" skin that isn't garbage.

It's not garbage (i downloaded it in fact), but when I think "featured" I think of skins that are amazing, not just skins that "don't suck."

I was going to say something like "If you don't have something good to contribute, don't contribute." But what the hell, I'll bite my tongue (this time). Quit being so damned negative though, not just in "Skinlove", but all over the forum.

Hey, it took 2 years+ to make, and they had to manually add it because of it's size and just crazy amount of features. (and it's thread damn near caught up to Frisbee's infamous maki thread count ^_^).

As far as the "threat of removal", I'm not concerned. MGM was offered to host it, and while they appreciated how cool it was, they decided not to host it but let us run with it as free advertising.

Well, we have reached this point now. There is no apparent interest in featured skins. My list has gone dry, and I had to find this thread on page 2.
From the protests in the past about the way featured skin were picked, and the numerous requests of letting members pick skins to be featured, I thought this would last a lot longer. However, there's no more. The well is dry, and it was not in my plans to pick all the skins to be featured.
Congratulations to the ones who have their skins on the front page now, because it looks like they will be there for a long time.

About the same is true for the plug-ins, as they basically have not changed since November, with a minor change in January.

It was nice while it lasted, but if there is no interest, there’s no reason to continue.

I guess we just need to make it more exciting. Contests? Voting? Maybe even add a button on the skins' info pages that lets non-forum-members nominate skins. Or move this thread to GD. The skin forums themselves have become pretty obscure, so any given thread within them is going to be pretty unpopular. :/
I have a class in a few minutes, but afterwards I can look through and nominate some more skins...

A change to the site?, you must be confusing us with a site that actually has some development time dedicated to it

You'll find several of my nominations in the usual place Wally.

Well if one is required, I nominate my own skin: http://www.winamp.com/skins/details.php?id=147332
It would be nice for a simple skin to be featured. Most featured (modern) skins are of the 1MB+ 50%+ cpu usage skins.

Maybe you should move this to general topics because then you might get more people, us grfx people and coders dont want to choose there own skins. Just a suggestion. Or do you mind If I make a few picks that arent mine a month? The Featured skins still get 100's of thousands of downloads Winamp is still really popular.
