Silly UK Question

all you guys in the UK...Do you really honor tea time? Is it a habit or forced? How was it started?

Are there quite a few that do "do it"? I wish we had something like that. No matter what your doing the whole country stops for tea. Sounds great.

I've not met anybody who dose, tea time normlay means snacks and varies a lot from person to person.

Well, in England we do like our tea. A lot. It's fairly traditional when people visit to immediately offer them a cup of tea, unless you're a total alcoholic like me and then your mates will most probably be the same and bring some cans of lager.
I hasten to add that I do not drink alcohol in the daytime as I have kids and it's not a nice parenty thing to do to be drunk 24/7 evenings only.

Have you been reading this post?

Now I feel guilty for drinking a few beers while caring for my kid.

*back to the subject* I've also heard that you guys do your tea different than we do.

The English stop for tea at 4, tsk tsk, where did you read that ? don't belive all you read, most of it's not true, I mean if that's the case we in the UK would think all American people are loud mouth arrogant arseholes, but we don't.

Anyhow, I drink my tea with hot water and a cup generally.

At four you say? Well, boring/amusing/depending on who you are story.
Years ago I was a new-age traveller and we travelled in convoy quite a bit, used cb radio between cabs to keep updated on what was going on. The front bus broke down on the hard shoulder of the M5 so we all stopped. Naughty naughty. A couple of mechanic types were up front fixing deaded bus so we could get to our new site before dark and the rest of us made tea.
The police inevitably arrived at 4pm oddly enough and said "What the fuck are you doing?" at which point the convoy clown said "it's 4 o clock, we're British and we're having tea!"
Sadly it didn't amuse the police but they helped us on our way.

We threw one helluva tea party once

Wasn't tea time traditionally at 4:20 which is where we got that term for inhaling bong smoke?

Well THC has a T in it.. I just prefer to not bother with it these days. I am made out of tea/food/lager/nicotine.. whereas 17 years ago I was made out of THC/munchie-food/amphetamine/tea/coffee/nicotine/anything-you-care-to-offer-me
Luckily I stopped all that before reproducing my deadly spawn.

Their father..shockingly enough
They've just disturbed me greatly, they were being overly quiet (its just gone 10pm here) so I went and had a look in the tv room to be greeted with delighted shrieks of, "WE'RE WATCHING PORN!!" luckily it was only Titanic but they nearly gave me an early heart attack.
You have it alllllllll to look forward to.

I like Lipton Brisk...

Does that kind of stuff count?
