"and the colors danced across the cathode ray tube like fireflies in the night"

Anybody know of any software that will let me use my Tv-Tuner card to descramble movie channels?

If it's MPEG encoded and it's just a normal TV card then it can't be done using the card. You might be able to do it using a DVD decoder but if they're encrypted then it's very naughty.

filesharing makes a subscription to the nudie channel unnecessary.

For the freedom to express myself in my own way without fear of being censored or banned.

Who said anything about the nudie channel??? I'm much more interested in descrambling things like HBO so that I can rip the occasional movie that's too outdated for people on filesharing networks to still have copies available (Carrie 2 for example).

It's a well known fact that 90% of cable porn is of the lame softcore variety, and it's not worth my time given that kazaa provides me with access to all the REAL porn I could ever need (although I've noticed that I keep downloading the same clips with different file names...it's weird to realize that you've seen so much porn that it's started to become redundant). Cable is for wholesome entertainment like cult movies and cartoons. The Internet is for porn.

Depends on the encryption system used. Many analogue systems are easily descrambled in this way, notably the Nagravision system that was used in Spain and Germany. Other systems, such as Luxcrypt and many analogue cable TV systems just used inversion and altering some of the signal characteristics which could also be easily got around.

These days, however, not only are the signals MPEG encoded, but also encrypted using a variety of systems, such as Videoguard, Viaccess, Seca, and Conax. Therefore the signal has to be fist decoded using a digital receiver, and then decoded using a CAM/Smartcard system. It is possible to copy cards, or use a computer to emulate them, but this is illegal (duh!).
