Double-click taskbar icon problem

I'm using 5.35 - when I double click on the taskbar icon the Main Window does not appear - I'm sure it used to work this way. I can't find a setting that looks relevent to the issue so is it a known problem, something unusual with my installation/setup or is there a fix?

If I click once on the task bar icon (to give it focus) then use the keys Alt-W - it will appear and disappear as required. Also the applications main window does not respond to clicking the minimise icon ( the (-) on the Main Window).

Any ideas anyone?

Neil

Alt-W will "close" the main Window. So, if you have it removed and you click on the taskbar, it will remain removed. Expected functionality.

I don't know if I understand you correctly..

I *think* Alt-W amounts to calls to ShowWindow(SW_HIDE) and ShowWindow(SW_SHOW) on an app. programming level and these make the window visible and that's not the same as exiting the main windows app. mesage loop. If I start the app. the minimise button does nothing - the only way to make it disappear is to do an Alt-W and this renders it as an icon in the system tray. In previous versions (where the minimse button worked) I would then simply double-click on the sys.tray icon to make the app visible (gain focus & rise to the top of the z-order) - maybe I'll reinstall or try the older version if I still have the install package. It does not seem to be working right as far as I can tell.

should have said system tray not task bar..

aaah - sorted - I think.

I reinstalled but this time I checked the checkbox that said "System tray icon/agent" - at first I thought that was causing the problem - maybe the default set up changed as I don't remember explicitly having to select that option previously.

Anyway - initially it seemed fine - I minimised the app to the sys, tray and restored it with a single click BUT the next time I tried it it didn't work. I've found that by starting the app again from the start menu the problem goes away (even though a new Winamp process does not start in the task manager - actually I use ProcessExplorer in place of task manager) - I think this is strange.

WHat does the winampa.exe do? After the reinstall it was running but it doesn't start when you start the main winamp.exe.

Can anyone else either confirm this as a bug or report the same problem? Is there anything I can check wrt setup/config or installation?
