Winamp Playlist Preview

Hi there,

while surfing the web I stumbled upon a very nice program, which gives us the opportunity to browse through our playlists WITHOUT opening them. All you have to do is move the mouse pointer over a playlist file icon in your File Explorer and a list pops up showing all items within that particular playlist file. This tiny application is called Winamp Playlist Preview and can be downloaded here.

Once downloaded unzip the archive in a folder of your choice and run the WPPsetup.exe file. You will also notice that source files were added to this package, which you probably will never need. And although not updated in the past few years it still works like a charm on all operating systems from Microsoft beginning at Windows 2000 till current Windows 10.

Give it a try!

This is an interesting app, but needs more work, imo. It does show the total run-time of a playlist, however it only lists the first 10 or so items in a playlist. So, other than allowing for the quick selection of a playlist based on total run time, it is not of much use. It would be much more useful, if updated to allow browsing through all the items in a playlist.

After playlists are copied or linked to the media library, the library provides for the same selection choice and can provide a listing of all the items in a playlist.
