Anime

Just finished watching Ayashi no Ceres. It has left me very pissed off, I don't like the idea of Yuuhi being alone, Chidori dying was just wrong, ARGH! hate creators so much ,

If there's an anime that you've seen and have something you hate about it, come join me, rant, bitch, blow some steam.

>_< !!!!!!!

Anime is gay, and before the PC police anally violate me with their Great Big Billy Club of Correctness, I mean that in the least derogatory way possible.

Maybe the average Yank is getting tired of seeing the usual Micky Mouse bs all the time. Seriously the form in the US has been stagnated since Disney kicked the bucket...until recently.
Recent memory though...animated Spawn...X-Men etc were quite an improvement I must say.

Because this is the bitch list, I'm going to put a little bitching about Anime here...

I'M SICK OF POKEMON!!! Picachu scares me, especially for a small yellow thing that sits on some young kids head. DragonBall Z... well... if it takes 20 episodes to have just 5 minutes pass buy and three years passes by in 1 and 1/2 episodes... fuck that. I miss my Evangelion, Akira, Bubblegum Crisis, X 1999 type anime... I mean what happened to that? Why are there all of this bad pussy really bad Japanese made, American prospering kiddy crap?

Haha! True dat, stuff like Pokémon and DBZ (Yeah, you know, THAT one...) sets a bad example for anime that are actually good like Love Hina and Initial D.

To everyone bashing American cartoons:

Good fighting choreography comes from Japan. Even American movies, such as The Matrix, all have Japanese (or at least Asian) fight choreographers. The good American movies are good because of their writing, especially the comedies. American cartoons are the same way. Our best cartoon is The Simpsons, and there is no equivalent to it anywhere else in the world.

I don't watch much anime, but I watch some. I used to watch DBZ until it started being extremely drawn-out. Then it became way over-popularized. Bleh.

I've watched a couple other animes that I like, though. I happen to like the entire Gundam Wing series (haven't watched any of the other Gundam series or The Endless Waltz yet, but plan to sometime ), and The Big O. The Big O was only 13 episodes long (well, that is until they decide to make a second series), but I like it a lot. Big O is great. I've got all 4 dvds.

I mean, it had, say 3 funny episodes, 6 years ago! now they are just lame, wasshed up, ran out of ideas show.

Anime, there is just so much diversety in it. Look at Akira, and then Oh My Godess. And I look at the simpsons. NO comparison.

I think there is a tv network by the name of boomerang. Owned by Cartoon Network. It is all old cartoons, many many old cartoons. I dotn get it, but my crazy smurfed obsessed friend loves it.

I love anime, but hate crappy endings, like Akira (movie and manga) and Cowboy Bebop.
also some slowness can kill some anime too.

...Simpsons?... Crap?... just a second...

(j/k)

Seriously, though, the Simpsons is NOT crap. It's crap if you look at it as a modern day Three Stooges, with nothing but stupid slapstick humor. It's crap if you criticize it for the quality of the art. It's crap if you take a closed-minded approach to it (not unlike the way many people read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn). If you instead read between the lines a little bit, or maybe even attempt to understand some of the political jokes (if you're not from the U.S., you probably won't get any of them), then you'll see how funny the show is. They have satirized every possible aspect of American society that I can think of, including every president since the show debuted (and several before), gays, religion, atheists, the police, the mafia, the public school system, politcal correctness, political parties, their own network, etc. It's kind of similar to Seinfeld, with a couple exceptions. 1) they can make up any scenario they want, no matter what it requires (I.E. aliens enslaving the entire world), and 2) they can get away with more because it's a cartoon. I don't think I would be wrong to say that, with the exception of Saturday Night Live (and possibly Seinfeld), it's the most consistently funny show on television. If it's such crap, why are there 8 trillion imitations, and why are none of them even close to as funny?

P.S. I have a friend who's very into anime and also loves The Simpsons, so liking the two isn't mutually exclusive.

I don't think it's fair to say that all people who like anime bash american cartoons. I like anime such as Love Hina, NGE, and yes, even Digimon Tamers. I don't like some anime as well, like DBZ and Sailor Moon. I watch the Simpsons, although I don't watch it religously, I've even been known to enjoy a few offerings from the National Film Board of Canada, and occassionaly have seen the animation that is up for Best Animation catergory in the Oscars.

So, what does this mean, not much, people will always have their views and their opinions. My view is that in general, I like anime, but not all anime.

[edit] anime endings that I didn't like: I didn't like how Escaflowne ended... she so should have ended up with Von [/edit]

Your eyes hurt? Stop watching Pokémon, all that yellow from that Pikachu character, or even the color itself...I do believe it does destroy one's retinas after awhile. I learned that when I stared into the sun once...
