Setting Up Outlook for Yahoo?

I have Been Using the Yahoo Email For a while, But now it's starting to get annoying. Like 20 Spam Emails a day. So, I have Outlook, But I dont know how to configure It.

I have "Microsoft Outlook 2002". I went to "Tools>Options>Mail Setup>Set Up Email Accounts and Directories>Add new Email Account>add>HTTP" Then Put in my Username And PW, then Under server Information went to "Other" and Under "Server URL" Put in http://yahoo.com.

It created the account, But I see nothing. Like when I go to "Inbox" It says "You have nothing To display Here". I have like 70 Email in my inbox... I dont understand Why it didnt work. Can someone help me?

Note: No, I cannot change my Email to hotmail Or something. Has to stay As yahoo.

Judging from the URL, it looks like a pop client for Yahoo.

Download it and find out.

You don't use outlook, it's a stand alone client.

No, I dont mean to Come off that way. This is just the First Time I have attempted to configure any email... I have NO IDEA what pop3 and SMTP mean, where they are, what they stand for Ect. I hadnt even Heard the word Until about 3 minutes ago. this is what I know:

It asks For my Incoming Mail Server (Pop3) and my outgoing Mail server (SMTP). So, Under POP 3, I went into Yahoo Pops, and Put the Pop3 port In there, and Then the port For SMTP in the Outgoing mail server. I tested it, and It couldnt log in... It had Problems.

I did what It told Me to, But It couldnt Send test Email.
It said: "Unable To connect to outgoing mail server (SMTP). Please Verify the port and SSL Settings for the outgoing server. To access these settings please close this Dialog, then click more settings, and the Advanced tab"

So I do that, and I see my outgoing (SMTP) port right there.

There's a checkbox underneath it that says "This connection Requires a secure Connection(SSL)", so I check it. I try testing the connection again, and I get the same error.

Yes, I DID Check the box in Yahoo pops That says "Enable SMTP"

Tools>Options>Mail Setup>Email Accounts>Add New Email Account>HTTP>Put iN all my Information, and under "Server Information" And in the dropdown Menu "HTTP Mail Service Provider" I selected Hotmail. I think You can only Do it with Outlook, Because in the menu It said "Hotmail" and then another Option was "MSN" and another was "other".

jesus squak will you learn to use the edit button.

pop3 I can't remeber off hand SMTP = simple mail transfer protocol or some such.

as bored154 said your pop3 (both in and out)

wil be something like
Quote:
Yahoo e-mail URL: mail.yahoo.com
i.e. I can use the eircom service so mine is

mail1.eircom.net
I fill my own user/pass in manually and thats it. I don't us ethe garbage much anymore and hardly ever have it set up.
Had it virus's all over the place ...my AV was going mental so now I keep it online and manual and never have a problem.
As for deleting spam I do about 200+ a day..

Every computer I get in for virus removal hasd got it via one of these programs and it makes bugger all difference what browser you use..some are better most just plain suck.

Main reason? You are allowing the crap on to your computer in the first place and in some cases along with the attachments...

heaps of junk the lot of em...

I bet the outgoing Email Stuff Is somehow Tied in with my Firewall or my antivirus (protecting Email). So, I just switched to Hotmail (Better service anyway) and the universe is balanced. All is well.
