Native subtitles support

I have searched the forums and didn't find an acceptable solution for subtitles in winamp. FFDshow and all the other solutions are really not worth the effort. I'm sick of keeping an audio player (winamp) and a video player. Really guys, I really don't think it's that hard to support .sub and .srt ... I mean - you've made a scriptable skinning engine ... how hard can it be to add some basic subtitle support?

Is this featured really planned for winamp? Will we see it next month, next year, next century ... ever?

Thanks,
A long time winamp user (a little bit disappointed one, I might add).

Isn't winamp just yet another directshow player? So can't you just use vsfilter and everything will be good? (It wouldn't look as nice as MPC subtitles, because they're applied earlier, but it'd look decent enough.)

VSFilter:
http://ffdshow.faireal.net/mirror/Me...e//VSFilter.7z
You install it by dumping it in a folder, and running "regsvr32 /path/to/vsfilter.dll". (sorry, don't have an installer handy) If you put it in windows or system32 you can leave off the path.

Yeah, but as the OP said, FFDShow etc are not really worth the effort.

vsfilter doesn't quite work for me ... before I register the dll the movie (divx) plays fine. after i register it, the movie doesn't play. It kind of pauses/freezes at the first frame for a few seconds and then stops. The Video window is the correct size, but remains black. Also, there is no audio.

If I unregister vsfilter the video plays fine once again.

Filter version 2.37 (downloaded from your link)
